My favorite is the 68, and i bought just that because of it. I used to favor the 70, but the last few years i favored the 68, and later bought one!
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

The70RT

70 because that's what I have, and less production numbers too.

I'd like to vote a 69 front end with a 68 set of tailights- That would be nice if not original- a 19689!!lol

1968....the CLEAN grill, no ugly front bumper or grill divider, best looking tail lights, sharp dash pad,......and a door lock that doesn't bug ya when your arm is hanging out the window...hahaha!

A freind had a '69 with a '68 grill.....looked good, but the door lock was still in the way when cruisin'....hahaha!

Well i like the 68 the best BUT....... i have a 69.   Why?

Well it was the best project at the moment i could find and i chose body quality above year. And afterall my 69 is an SE with factory air and thats what dit it for me.
Greetings from Belgium, the beer country

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

From the outside, the '69 because I like the sidemarkers, the grille and the tail lights better than the other 2nd Gens.

From the inside, the '66 because I like the four buckets and full console.

I've never had a 2nd Gen, but my father and I each had a '66.

moparstuart

I too love that 66 interior and the glowing dash is so cool too

I think the reason for 68-69 are liked more is just because there is more owners of them out there. I also think us Charger guys would like any of them, just depending on what year we happened to find at the time when we all got them.

Wow, really tough call to make... Each version has it's own points of interest, even within generations. I must say that I really love the stylish and sporty looks of the 2nd gens, but I guess if I had to choose one, I would have to take a well set up, aggressive looking 1st Gen... even if only for the fact that they are so rare and unique. Almost everything about them is a step away from the norm. Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of driving a 1st Gen at night with tell you that the design of the electroluminescent dash display is just too cool. Add 4 individual bucket seats, 2 fold down rear seats, fold down arm rests, a fold away trunk divider that opens the inside of the car to the trunk, providing enough room to camp out for the night. The fastback window that seconds as a moon roof, the winged tail. The really cool tail light that displays the name Charger across the entire back of the vehicle. Rotating headlights which rotate the entire lighting assembly, not just the covers. A really cool rear emblem proudly displaying the cars heritage, and another smaller one in the front grille. The list goes on and on....  Plus there's something that's just plain mean and aggressive looking about a properly set up 1st Gen. It's not the same look you get from a really nice 68... The 68 says speed and performance, where the 1st Gen just looks aggressive, if not brutish. It's that don't tread on me look... The Scottish Claymore verses the Rapier.

Love the 68 then the 69 then the 70.

If the 69 kept the 68 tail lights with the 69 grille, that would have been a really killer looking car.  :Twocents:

I think most would agree, you got that backwards. I think more would like the open grill with the long tailights. I am surprised at how many don't like  the 'beak' on the 69. I personally like 68, 69 and 70 grilles the same.

I think that the problem is that everytime someone sees a 2nd gen charger they automatically think and assume that it is a 69. This happens to me all the time when I have my 70 Charger RT out of my garage. THey dont know that 68 and 70 are the same body style.

And with that said I prefer the 1970 as it has the best of both previous years of Charges and then it has the added bonus of having the better options and Lower production numbers.

What makes me laught is when people put Pistolgrip shifters in a 68 or 69 Charger as it just doesnt look or seem right and the same thing goes with the Sixpack option.

How does it not "look" right? Unless yer a resto freak..... The interiors are all basically the same, except Dodge got CHEAP in 1970. Some stuff that was standard before was now an option.......
I like my Pistol Grip.....in my '68 :nana: :icon_smile_big:

moparstuart

yeah  six pac's   r/t door scoope and pistol grips are the only great thing's on 70's
