torsion bar 73 charger

im looking to buy torsion bars for my 73 charger ,ive been looking at summit they have several different tickness"s ,my question is my lower control arm is a stock 318 ,im going with 440 ,could i go with a 440 torsion bar .thanks Brian

73/74 use the same T-bars on all SB and BB cars from factory, there is just difference on the Sway bar.

Of course, upgrade allways is good, but you won't get damage using the same T-bars

Last I checked Summit doesn't sell a T-bar to fit the 73.  I just called a couple of weeks ago.  Summit's only fit through the 72 Chargers.  73-74 Chargers require a longer T-bar.

I had the torsion bars mounts moved forward on my car. I had the mounts moved from the rear mounting points to the forward ones. That means I can get the shorter torsions bars from earlier models.


I did it because it's difficult to find thicker torsion bars that are the longer kind to fit the later model charger.


Only cost me about 100.00 to have it done.

I would like to do this too, I have a set of the short .96 bars, doing nothing in my garage...

Yeah,I would like a picture to.  I had heard you can do this.  Does it move right to the very front of the crossmember?
