tranny pump?

Hi this is ou first time rebuilding a tranny and we just finished assembling our 727 tourqflight today. However when we finished we noticed that we were unable to turn the pump by hand and we were wondering if this was normal or if there is some sort of problem.Thanks for any help

Only the small splined shaft should turn.  The large one is stationary.
The pump is turned by the two slots in the torque converter.

if you still can not turn it, then one or both of your bands may be too tight.   torque the same, turns to back off on front band dependent upon the engine in use, and the rear being 72" lbs then back off 2 turns.
