Correct color for rear leaf spring to body mounts?

Ok, I just picked up a pair of repro front spring mounts, the ones that have the single large bolt that goes through the front of the leaf springs and mounts to the body with 4 studs.  Would anyone know what color they are supposed to be originally?  I did a search and got no results and also asked people at the show in Carlisle this past weekend and there did not seem to be a definite answer.  I have heard anywhere from semi flat black to natural steel color.  Either of those correct or is it some other totally different color?

thanks for the input.

I think they were unpainted from the factory but I'm not 100% positive.  The ones I make get a zinc plating for corrosion resistance.  If a person doesn't like the zinc color they can always rattle can them flat black.

tan top

bare metal from the factory . i would eather clear lacquer them . or use some type of paint that looks similar to bare steel.
