now that these heads have been around for awhile what are your opinions on stock out of the box bolt on and what would be the best rocker assemblies  to use. new stock , alumm adjustable or does mopar  offer a iron adjustable that would work. stock rebuild on 69 six bbl motor. the reason i ask is i have been told the ajustable rockers are best for these heads but a lot of people run factory stock setup.i don't want to use something that i would have to adjust every six months.this will be street driven with stock manifolds. looking to loose some weight and update to newer heads.also is there a better push rod i should look at. any opinions likes or dislikes on these heads for a stock freshened 440.any problems with bolt on parts or spark plug exhaust manifold clearance.

The RPm heads work fine with stock intake/exhaust manifolds. You can use the factory non adjustable rocker arms but it would be wise to upgrade to the MP heavy duty stamped steel rockers for piece of mind. These rockers are beefed up in the weak areas for added strength. The originals should be replaced regardless due to metal fatigue. With a hydraulic cam under .520 lift....the factory setup is fine.

Have a machinist look them over if you decide to buy a set. Sometimes the valveguide clearance is a little on the tight side and they need to be opened up a few thousanths.

These heads work best with 10:1 compression or slightly more for street applications on pump gas.

thanks for your help Ron.i am trying to make up my mind on weather to run heavy duty stock or  which one of the many aftermarket rocker assemblies out there. leaning towards the crane gold if i go after market.  how noisy are the roller rockers and once they are set do i have to reset them  putting maybe 2000 miles on a year.

Jerry welcome to the site....i just noticed you're a new member.  :icon_smile_cool:

The crane golds are descent rockers but the crane ductile iron rockers will work just as well and cost less. If you're running a hydraulic cam then there is no periodical adjustments required. One you set the lifter preload....you are good to go. A roller rocker won't show any appreciable power increase over a non roller rocker arm assuming they are both of the same ratio. The HD stamped rockers are pretty strong but are for use with a hydraulic cam only....if you're using a solid (mechanical) cam....they won't work.

From you're description of the motor being a stock 6-pack rebuild i'm assuming that you plan on using a hydraulic cam/lifter setup....

Ron,yes this is a 69 1/2  a12 car.i replaced the original matching motor 18 yrs ago with a fresh rebuilt 71    440 with 906 heads.i decided i wanted to update to a more modern lighter engine so the original 440 has been bored 30, set of H-beam rods KB pistons.hemi pan with 1/2 pickup the E heads alum waterpump housing and pump, factory alum intake and carbs. the cam well be custom ground and i don't know the numbers yet we just put all the info in computer a couple days ago.the timing chain will be a 3 bolt pro gear double roller.this car is mostly street driven.the cam will be very close to stock 69 six pack specs with a little upgrading to match the pistons, heads, and torque ranges and the way i will drive the car. estimated horse power will be in the 525-550 range on 87 octane pump gas with a 10 .2-5 cr. i have been running 87 octane in 71 engine with no trouble.

That's a nice build Jerry....i'm sure you'll be pleased with the results. The one advantage that the adjustable rocker arm will have is that the rocker ratios are more accurate. The factory rocker arms are normally a little shy of their actual advertised ratio. You will see more lift at the valve with a 1.5 adjustable rockerarm. Fwiw the crane golds are actually closer to 1.55:1 for their 1.5 rockers. A little extra valve lift is a good thing with the RPM heads because they move lots of air up to .600 valve lift.  :yesnod:

Luv those A-12 cars  :drool5:....is it a bird or a bee ?
