Hooking up my last gauge on my triples, while looking for the temp sending unit, i came across this wire.  I'm guessing it is for the A/C(original ac ar) but I was hoping someone could verify.
Thanks

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

My non AC cars do not have a wire there.

Is that a wire, or the vacuum line for the heater box?  Sorry, had to ask...

mikepmcs

good call, i cut it a bit to see cause it looked like a copper wire in the middle but lo and behold you are right on the money...hmm i wonder if that was causeing a vac leak as well.  looks like it's time to put the gauge on her and see if i gained any hg.
you da man. it was tucked way under the manifold so i never thought to even touch it until i was poking around yesterday. sweet!!! :boogie:
thanks

Anytime!  You shouldn't have a vacuum leak as that is supposed to go to vacuum on the brake booster.  The booster, if stock, will have a dual outlet for vacuum.  One goes to the manifold, and the other to your newly found vacuum line.  It looks like you might need some vacuum tube and a couple plastic splices to reach it.  That line should provide vacuum to the heater box and move all the cool little pods under the dash.

Good luck.

it's awful brittle.  i have that other tee on the booster plugged and i have such low vac now I don't know if I want to induce a possible leak, so i might just leave it be.  thanks for telling me where it goes though, i just thought the other tee on the booster was for testing or something.

Sounds like a good plan.  When you are ready, just cut that puppy back until you have soft enough line to work with.  Sometimes, and I mean, Sometimes, you can soak it a bit in WD40 to bring it back to life.  Just remember that rubber and any kind of oil means deterioration over time.  Use just enough to do the job.

It's neat though when the inside is all hooked up.  All the little gadgets for the climate control move and do stuff....
