Not trying to ape the original poster over there, but the pic deserves to be seen, as it (IMO) highlights how little the Germans really feel about Chrysler and the company they 'acquired'.

Needless to say the original post lasted a matter of minutes, but I think we can handle ourselves like adults.

Or at least like semi-courteous teenagers. :D

Sure,  but why would an American want to be part of the ugly thing?

Well I hope they don't sell not one smart car here, but of course not will not happen. Chrysler could care less how we feel , just so long as people buy their cars and they make money off them thats all they care about. Thats is why they gave us the 4 door Charger, they thought the name would help sell it, Chrysler could care less about the history of the car. Now we have GM talking to the Asian's so watch out Chevy lovers.

The way I see it, I am not going to live forever and there is enough old Mopars out there for the next 30 years or so, thats long enough for me. If these folks want to buy brand new and think its the best ever let them, not the first time they screwed up and it won't be the last time either. Only thing that has me worry is the price of gas, next thing you know its going to be hard to get. Maybe in a few more years all the new cars will start running ethanol or something else. Its going to cost more and more to keep these old cars going.

Gee, I don't understand how anyone could interpret that as being anti-American. :rotz:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Well just cause the others are does not mean Chrysler has to be too. I was told when I first started driving-just cause one guy on the road is a jerk does not mean you should be too.

Why do so many people concern themselves with what others do with their money?

Personally, I would not buy one of those Smart cars for the simple reason it doesn't suit my needs.

However, I don't care if another person buys one.

What's the issue here?

I think that billboard is against the car itself.  I wish I could see what's behind the tree and I'd probably know for sure.  As I read it, it says:

German engineering
Swiss Innovation
American nothing

0 Smart
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

Well if I am driving and I hit a Smart car or a Motorcycle somebody is going to be very hurt or dead. Thats why I care, I don't care if the cops say it was not my fault , I still would have killed somebody would might still be alive if they were driving a normal car.

These Motorcycle dudes think they are really tough until they hit something riding their bike-then they die. With gas over $3 there is more of them than ever, and some never had a motorcycle until they were 40 years old. Some 20 year kid got killed pulling out of the local supermarket here, some lady in a SUV boardside him going like 30 mph, for sure if he was in a normal size car he would not have died. Yeah it was his fault, but I don't think he deserved to die just cause he did not see somebody coming. People buy these Smart cars and Motorcycle's and think they are perfect or very tough and nothing will happen to them-wrong, people make mistakes, thats why cars have bumpers, seat belts, etc. if thats all they can afford well so be it, but I still feel uneasy around them on the freeway.

Couple of things.

1.  Smarts are not Chryslers.  They will not be sold, marketed, or referred to as Chryslers.  They will have their own dealer network COMPLETELY independent of Chrysler and Mercedes.  In the minds of the jaded car-buying public, they will have absolutely no relation to Chrysler or Mercedes-Benz.

2.  The billboard shown does not and will not appear anywhere in the US.  The billboard shows a Smart Forfour.  There are no plans to import the forfour to the US.  Only the Fortwo (two-seater).  Considering the anti-US sentiment prevalent all over the world right now (believe me, I experience it all the time), the wording does not surprise me.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.
