Do I change my gear oil? or should I leave it?

Alright well, I started restoration of my '69 3 speed about 2 months ago and im restoring it since it hasnt run since 98, and I dont get my license for another year.

haha so, I have time to restore this beast to its former glory.

And I was wondering if I should just drain my gear oil and add synthetic?
or should I just add to it?

and also if I drained it would there be any chance that the new gear oil might leak?

I would just change to synthetic. Ive done mine last year just to have peace of mind
