installing a gas cap on a 68 charger

is there only one gasket in between the ring and the cap. or is there a gasket between the ring and the body. Thanks Rene

My cap had a foam gasket and a piece of plastic film. I never did know if was originally one piece and seperated through the years.

There is a white foam gasget between the the gas cap ring and the body

when i took it apart the white gasket was between the cap and the ring. i guess that someone had that cap off before. Thanks

The white gasket is basically the same size as the ring and fits right down in the quarter stamping...I can't see it being between the cap and ring without looking weird.

There is a gasket for the filler neck tube and a gasket for the baseplate of the fuel cap.  I didn't bother using the gasket for the baseplate as it seemed to make the baseplate sit a bit high.  I did however use some tape between the baseplate and the quarter.

  on mine there was a gasket between the filler tube and the inside of the quarter - the gas cap trim ring to body ,there was a white foam seal ,plus a clear plastic sticker stuck to the body ,the same shape as the gasket.- bit no gasket between the gas cap and trim ring . hope this helps

thanks guys. i'm gonna use the white one between the cap and quarter. it's flatenned out a little so it shouldn't raise the ring. Rene
