Freightliner has been owned by Chrysler for a long time.    4500 and 5500 Dodges to come next year!

Well I think Fords are junk, but their trucks those big ones are tough. I see some that are 30 years old sometimes in my area. Cars and light trucks are good for 1-3 years, at least thats what I have hear. Even those cop cars before 2003 I think had plastic intake manifolds that leaked after 50,000 miles and ruined the motors with coolant in the oil. Then they had those fires from the key switch and wipers. We have a Olds cutlass 1992 got new and it has 150,000 miles, it still runs fine. The trans has never went out and the motor just needed a water pump a few years ago. If it was a Ford, it have to have more problems than that.

I was looking for a used truck and couldn't find anything out there.
If it was for sale it was total junk or new...no in-between.

I looked at Ford, Chevy, GMC, Internatonal, Freightliner, and Hino.
The only one who would deal was Ford.

I was under the gun also... I needed the truck yesterday.
The Ford dealer bent-over backwards for me.

I need the truck to haul this.

A Cat 257B has an operating weight of 7,559lbs.  I tow that much all the time with a '01 W250 no problem.

It's your money and your decision, but IMHO that skidsteer isn't too big for even a 3/4 ton truck.  Sounds like you got what you wanted though... 

The only one who would deal was Ford.

Maybe they were the only ones trying to get rid of their trucks?

No doubt. I have a contract to tear-out 12 new concrete driveways. I can haul 25 loads or 12 to
the concrete recyclers. Bigger is better sometimes.

The options are..

Air-ride suspension 33,000 GVW
10' dump bed with central hydraulics.
Air ride seat, A/C, cruise control, heated mirrors.
Air brakes, pintle hitch, electric tarp. Electric trailer brakes
AM/FM/CD with WX radio.

You must be thinking of the old Ford LTL9000 like this. I drove a few of them. I liked them.

I HATE ford pickups , at least the diesel is an IH ,only good thing about them. once you hit the midsize class tho , pretty much everything becomes interchangeable except cabs. you can get the cat /alison combo in almost everything. they all buy axels and other components from the same companys, so it really doesnt matter what the brand name is.

     for a contract to tear out 12 driveways i cant see how you justify a new truck, you will make a couple of payments off that job where if you had bought the "old junk" you would have a truck that was paid for after the job..it does look like a nice ride , and obviously it is what you wanted.
