Backing Plates

FOR an   8 3/4 A Body  Rear, are the Brake Backing Plates different for a small bolt pattern Axle 5X4  /  opposed to a large  bolt pattern 5X4.5 axle??

Yes, the small bolt pattern uses a narrower brake shoe so the backing plate has less offset than the big bolt pattern backing plate.

When changing to aftermarket big pattern axles you need the backing plates (and everything else) from a big pattern car.
