I ordered new redline radials for the Charger from Diamond Back Classics in So. Dakota a couple of weeks ago.  Recieved an E-mail notification on the 26th that delivery of the TWO packages (separate traking numbers) would happen on 7-3-06.  Yesterday the UPS truck comes up the driveway and of course, had only ONE package!  The sticker said 1 of 2 on it, but the driver knew nothing of the 2nd package (two 275/60/15 rears).  I went to the UPS tracking website and it stated that BOTH packages had made it to Spokane and were being delivered "on schedule".  This morning the website shows the 2nd package as "in transit" with a delivery date of 7-10-06.  ANOTHER WHOLE WEEK!  How can it be in Spokane one and God knows where the next????  Sorry for the rant, but I really wanted to get these mounted.  I haven't seen redlines on a yellow '68 since they came on my new one way back then.  Bob

I wonder if I could get her to mount them for me? ::)

I'd rather her mount me.

Ride 'em cowgirl!

Seriously though, having to wait a whole extra week is BS, but considering the fact that stuff like that rarely happens with UPS (at least in my experience) you shouldn't get too upset. Think of it this way, what are the chances of something like that happening again?

I have DB's on my Charger.....you're gonna love 'em

It could be worse... If you were in Canada and those packages had to cross the border, UPS would treat each package as a separate shipment and charge you $25 brokerage fees for each. That's on top of the taxes and duties (if any). $50 to do the paperwork on one order! That's just not right! I avoid UPS as much as I possibly can.
(USPS charges $5 for that same paperwork. Too bad they don't deal in the larger parcels.)

living in canaduh is awsome :-\

I hate UPS.  I think they tip toe up to your door and knock as quite as possible.

Then they leave the little yellow tag that they already filled out at Burger King, all while you are sitting right on the couch waiting for that last part to get you to the car show on Saturday night.

that's so on target...  ;D

could've been worse...they could've lost them etc.

OK, according to their tracking site, the problem started at at their hub in Albuquergue NM on 7-01-06.  "INCORRECT ROUTING, MISSORTED AT HUB".  That's when my front tires headed to Spokane and the rears went site seeing to El Paso TX..  From Texas they went back to NM and then on to Commerce City, Co. where they have stayed since 7-05-06.  The information on the site this morning (updated 7-08-06 @9:12am) still shows them in Commerce City, Co..  Why are they sitting there going on 3 days? :flame: :flame:  Somehow I doubt that they will be at my door on Monday as the schedule shows. Good thing I didn't have a real drop-dead date that they were needed by!   Bob

Those tires sure are gonna have a lot of miles on them by the time they see your car. ;D

That type of thing happens fairly often at my work, packages sent to us will end up halfway across the country because some putz didn't pay attention at a UPS hub. :rotz:
Oh well, I guess we're only human.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Fed express works sat, but don't deliver on Monday's unless its business. UPS charges more for Sat, how do you know its UPS fault and not the place shipping them, yeah UPS seems a little slow compare to USPS but they do have 3 day and overnight but its more money.

You guys think I am kidding about UPS, I will give you a true story.

I live in a dead end street, there is only one way out.  I was sitting on the couch one day and heard the UPS driver pull up.  I started to walk towards the door and I was wondering why I had not heard him knock yet.  When I opened the door I heard him start to drive off.  I looked NO package!  I looked around and on the door was a little yellow paper stating no one was home and I would need to come pick it up at the station.  I thought hell no, I ran to the street because like I said there is only one way out.  I stopped him as he was comming back and the look on his face said it all.  They were 3 very heavy boxes and he had the nerve to tell me that I must not have heard him knock.

dodge freak

Yeah his back was hurting or he is a lazy bas----. We had a USPS guy doing that for a while, our mailboxes are on the street and if something would not fit he just leave a note saying nobody was home you have to pick it up the NEXT day. The guy we have now is cool, if nobody's home he leaves it at the door-so far nobody took any thing.

mikepmcs

wow on the UPS deal.  I've never had a problem in 10+ years.  My guy nows me now though and will leave it right on the deck.  Fedex is great too.  I buy so many parts so they take care of me a little i guess by leaving it on the deck or porch.  sorry for your troubles.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I have had problems with all of the companies. But it happens. Some of the more irritating experiences I have had:

Fed Ex- I bought a guitar amp and the guy shipped it their slowest service from California. Somehow they messed up and it started its jouney overnight. The amp arrived to the local hub the next morning. They held the amp at the hub until the approximated delivery time passed before bringing it to me. Who knows how much it got kicked around before they delivered it.

UPS- I lived in a crappy section of Augusta Maine at this time and the driver would give my packages to the Oxy addicted neighbors. He wouldn't even knock on my door, just hand them my stuff. They kept my packages for 3 weeks until I noticed something was wrong and UPS went to get my stuff back. Some was gone and I had to prove to them how much I paid before they gave me money.

USPS- Sent a guitar to a customer. He gets a slip in his mailbox to come to the Post Office to get the package (odd as they always delivered guitars to him before). The lady behind the counter says "The postmaster needs to see you". He goes in a back room where he sees the box with a tire track going down it. They ask him to open the box right there in front of them. He does and the guitar is destroyed. This was a one of a kind Custom made guitar. They were unhappy with seeing his receipt showing how much he paid, so he had to get two official repair estimates, three estimates on how much it would cost to build a new one, and three official appraisals on the guitars original value. It took the better part of two months for them to finally cut him a check.

ChargerHound69

That sounds about right for all three.

They just do not care about the job they are doing.  If you put DO NOT BEND on a package, how often do you get it not bent??

Brock Samson

there was a thread on here a year or so ago from a member who bought a perfect console and it was shipped in a box pretty well, i forget which firm was the culpret but it arrived in about a half dozen pieces...

Headrope

I still find it amazing that packages can be shipped across the country within days, despite the couple of bad experiences listed within this thread.
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.
But before the General Lee there was me - Headrope.

Shakey

Well, we've heard the bad and the ugly....what about the good experiences?

Don't try and tell me that every single package / shipment you've sent or received has been lost, damaged or delayed?

The way I look at it, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.  The more packages you ship / receive, the more chances you'll have of getting burned.  I try my best to find stuff locally so I can pick it up myself but there are times when I need items shipped.

As Grant said - there are humans running these companies and they make mistakes and sometimes foolish moves.  Have you ever made a mistake?

:iagree:

For the most part, I have had good experiences with the three major guys (UPS, USPS, FedEx).  Just a few weeks ago UPS bungled a fairly nice set of sill plates.  They won't work too well with that 30 degree bend they put in them   :rotz:

Like Shakey said, I've rationalized that if you ship enough things, sooner or later they will make a mistake and crunch one.  Law of averages, I suppose.

I did not trust any of the shipping or freight companies to ship the Daytona hood I just bought.  It was worth it to me to drive 13 hours (one way) out to Carlisle to meet the guy who had the hood.  I would have needed to be restrained if a shipping company had shown up with just the broken/bent pieces of that hood...   :icon_smile_blackeye:
