crower cam feedback

im considering a crower cam for the 440 im doing,  the specs will be a 440, cast factory crank, resized ly rods, forged sealed power boat anchor pistons, stock rebiult heads. 1.75 inch headers, a 2500ish converter (not purchansed yet) a single plane intake  would like a streetdominator but most likly will end up with a torker, wont be an rpm becasue im cheap and just havent seen a real big differeance in intakes with my other engines. a 3310 holley and to top it off it has a 3.23 open rear end that will stay that way until i feel my daughter can handle it.

im not interested in a fast rate of lift cam so a comp xe or voodoo is out of the question.

right now im looking at a crane 278h cam and a crower 271h cam.  im leaning towards the crower becasue its ground on a 112 instead of a 114 and the split on the lift is closer.      im mostly interested in a decent idle qualitt, a hint of lobe but very drivable.     if this was for me to drive it would be getting a comp solid    but its not its for my daughters 69 bee clone.

   any input welcome

Mike, i ran the hdp 282 which is one up from the hdp 271. Nice clean idle, 15-16in vac pulls hard from 2500-6000 with a mild lope. I had 3.55 gears and 2500 stall. Streetwize ran the same grind in his old 440 with mildly ported stage 5's and a street hemi converter with a 3.54 dana. His best was 12.30's with that cam...so it makes really good power. It is cut on a 112 as well with a little more intake/exhaust duration on a large split....just like the 271.

The torker would be an excellent match with either one of these grinds....i really like that intake. :icon_smile_big: It doesn't give up anything to the rpm until you're over 5500 or so.

No problem Mike. With the 271 you could get away with a stock converter and be fine. It would be a better match with the 3.23's anyway. I believe Chris (Chris G/Burnt 70rt) runs the 271 in his car and is very happy wth it....maybe send him a pm for some additional feedback.
