I lucked into an English Mastiff puppy this week. Not sure what his name will be yet....I'll decide tomorrow when I pick him up. He's right at 12 weeks.

with paws that big i would be calling him "SIR" or "Please don't eat me"

Brought him home today....the breeder has been calling him "Tigger" and now that I've met him the name is highly appropriate. He is great though, very laid back and already responding well.

.... and he just farted in his sleep.  :smilielol: :eek2:

My Dog likes to hide in my clothes/Laundry.  LEON.

Old Moparz

We had 4 cats at one time several years ago, but since none of them were young, they ended up either being very sick & had to be euthanized, or simply died from old age. When our last cat died this past summer, our daughter Kate who's been badgering us for a kitten of her own, again asked if she can have a kitten. It would have been easy to say yes, but she has a live cat toy......I mean a pet mouse.

She's 10 & never remembers to close doors, turn off lights, or pays attention to where she has her mouse, so a kitten would mean instant death to the poor thing. I told her that if she doesn't get any more mice & waits, she can get a kitten. I added that we aren't going to the store for one, but will adopt one that needs a home. She has no patience & every now & then asked for her own kitten, especially when she comes back from the pet store with supplies for her mouse.

So last Thursday, I hear a meow outside my office window. A couple of people at my office were feeding a stray kitten that suddenly showed up. It was scared so I assumed it was lost or dumped here by some a-hole who thinks "It's a cat, it'll survive by killing it's food." I set a trap Friday that catches small animals alive, but it was too small & too light to trigger it. On Sunday I came back with my wife & daughter & set the trap again.

My daughter coaxed the kitten out from under the dumpster & it went right into the trap to eat. Of course it didn't trigger it again, so I snuck up behind the dumpster & triggered the trap myself with a stick. It worked, but the cute little kitten suddenly turned into a Tasmanian Devil that tried to pry open the bars on the trap to get out, remove the stick from my hand & beat me into a coma while it laughed.

Fortunately, that didn't happen. We took it home, let it calm down, fed it, & transferred it to a kennel cage. On Monday when I came home from work, my daughter had the kitten in her arms petting it & making it purr. It is very friendly, a female, appears to be in good health, used the litter box already, & about 2 months old. The thing has shorter legs than usual & a stubby tail, so we think it might be part "Bobtail" (If that's the right name?)

It's going to the vet later today & more than likely will stay with us. That means my daughter finally got her own kitten that she even helped catch. I suggested calling it Stumpy or Igor, but my daughter just rolled her eyes at me & said she named her Jo-Jo.

Here's Jo-Jo

Yeah, it's cute now, but you really should have seen it when I tripped the trigger on the trap.  :smilielol:

Jo Jo could be a MANX

Here is one of my cats that is a MANX. They have stubby tails that are genetic.
Compare the head markings, eye colors and stubby tail.

This Is Smiley we got her back in July. She was a rescue dog from Georgia. She is a german shepherd, beagle, and bloodhound mix.

Our miniature schnauzer Stumpy has been diagnosed as being anemic. If he lives through the end of the year we will be lucky. He was fine up until like a week ago....then boom it just hit him. He was lucky over the summer when he swallowed a treble hook. He had surgery and  recovered from that with no problems. Me and my wife have really become attached over the 12 years we have had him.  The wife has really taken this pretty bad, so bad that she took off work yesterday. Since I am off work from surgery for a little longer it is a good thing because we have to let him out to pee every 2-3 hours. After I go back to work this won't be so good. maybe he will pass before then. 90% don't survive, so we can do is pray. He has been the smartest and the best dog we ever had. Here is a couple pics of him on our vacation early this year.

Very sorry to here about that, Animals mean soooo much to us   :yesnod: :yesnod:

This Lab we lost 3yrs ago, was my second favorite dog. He had bad hip dysphasia at the age of 8mo.

We did the surgery on the right hip at 9mo,  them the other hip at almost 11mo, it was big bucks.

It was worth every penny, he was 13yrs old in this picture, he lasted about 4mo after this was taken.

This was the second best retrieving dog I ever had, he lived for it.

Thanks Dan, and sorry to hear about your dog as well. Like the saying goes - their is dog owners and there is dog lovers. I have had outside dogs before and when they perish it didn't hit home like this one will.

Well Stumpy is healthy enough to go in for exploritory surgery today. There is a spot that showed on the x-ray. Hopefully they can take out what ever it is....wish him luck.  :2thumbs:

Well they found a baseball sized tumor in Stumpy and removed it today. Yeah for a small dog it was pretty crazy. Hopefully he will be back home in a couple days.

Sorry to hear about Stumpy.  Benign I'm guessing?

We took our pupster in for a puppy wart that had dried blood & stuff surrounding it.  He's OK now, last day of meds & it's all gone.  I guess dogs' get them & they go away.  :shruggy:

Tigger is growing like mad - I just took him to the vet last week for his latest round of shots and a checkup, he's already about 55 pounds! He's not even six months old yet. His training is coming along great, he's fully housebroken now and I installed a doggy door so I don't have to come home during the day to let him out. He still gets a little bitey when playing but I'm working on that.
