Animals/pets are entirely at your mercy. In our opinion, like any living thing, they deserve as good a life as possible. It is their right. They are no less deserving.

Really sorry to hear both yours (Fred) and MrsSkip's losing a beloved pet and companion. My sympathies to both of you. Our pets (we have 3 cats now) do really become integral parts of our family and it is always tough losing one of them.

Fred

Thankyou.
Especially when the decision has to be ours...........do we put him to sleep, should we leave it a little longer. But you don't want your pet to suffer so you do what you know is the right thing and yet after it's done, you wonder if you could have maybe  held off for a little while.
Just once we wish a pet of ours would just die peacefully in it's sleep and save us from having to make that dreaded decision.

OMG! how awful for you. What was wrong with him, any idea?
I was assuming that like people, some pets got to sleep at night and just don't wake up in the morning. (peaceful and painless)
That's the way I want to go. Hope I'm lucky.

We always have the vet come to the house.

I'm sad to report another passing today.  Our gentle giant Cairo (Cai).
He'd not been doing well for several days and after numerous tests and still not finding what was wrong we had to make a decision.
He was 21 pounds and just a big kitten of 12 years.
The doctor strongly suspected a brain tumor.  He was the most gentle cat who would do just about anything.  If you wanted him to sit on your lap, he would. Beside you, pick him up, sit in your arms, whatever - he was fine with it.
My wife is very upset as it was her cat since before we were married and had him as a kitten.
I will miss him waddling around the house. Of the 3, all we have left is Oliver.  God speed Cairo. :'(
