It has 15x8 Magnum 500s on it right now and I want a different look for a while. What do you think.

The tires for the rear are 285/40/17, I was gonna run 255/45/17 on the front, 17x8 wheels all around with 4" back spacing. The rear tires are a little shorter than i would like and i was actually thinking of running 255/50 on the rear do you have any pics of yours with wheels on.

nice! what tires are you running?  (how much did they cost, too?)

That looks good man. 17's are probably the furthest I would ever go in wheel diameter for my Charger.

I'll dare to be different.  They look ok but those 500's with the raised white letters look better.

I agree with Mike.  The 500's look better.  When I look at the picture of the car - my eyes focus on the rear rims and tires rather than on the car.  I think they take the focus away from the car rather than adding to the beauty of it like the 500's and raised white letter. - my opinion.

You are right. It seems like every Camaro or 57 Chevy has those on them right now. They are a nice wheel. . . . They look great on your car.

A lot of people do like the Magnum 500s and I do plan on keeping them. I got a great deal on the Torq Thrust so I'm gonna run them for a while and see how I like them.
Jeff

chrisII

well ill say they look better than 18s , or 22s would..i kinda prefer 15s with 60s myself. leave the 17s with rubber bands for the ricers imo. i guess that at my ripe old age of 33 , having ben involved with and interested in hot rods and muscle cars for nearly 25 years already i just cant get out of the 1980s.

Blown70

Well I like them both,  I suggest as you are going to keep the Magnums  Change them when you wish.

I like the car either way.

I have to wait awhile for that treat. Baer disk brakes first! If you dont mind what would a four wheel set up run you?

Run 50's on the rear. 255s or 275s. That eliminates the "rubber band" look as well as filling the wheel opening better.

Pictured is my car with 275-50-17 rear, and 255-50-17 front.

Don't let anyone get on you, tqII's are one of the best looking wheels on a 2nd gen,

here is mine with 16's.  295/50/16 rear, 255/50/16 front

I like mine !   :yesnod:  I love the TIIs and the red....sweet.  Here is mine with 18s 5 inch offset & rear and 17s 4 inch offset front.  My rear tires size is a 275 with plenty more room.  :icon_smile_cool: No making fun of my jacked up hood with dent either ! ! Still a sensitive issue.... :icon_smile_blackeye:  :rotz:

I definitely ain't gettin on him.. Don't misunderstand me, the car looks great, I just like the 500's and RWL look, that's all.   :METAL: :2thumbs:
man oh man, those other cars are sweet too!!!

Thanks for all the replies, I am gonna run the 40 series tires for a while since they are free and I don't have $500-$600 extra to put into new ones right now.

Definatly not a fan of the small sidewall on those wheels.  Looks too rubberbandish for my tastes.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

RT DAVE

My philosophy is you either need to stick with 15s and have huge sidewalls or go real big (19s or bigger) to fill the wheel wells properly.   Anything in between and you have a hard time finding anything with enough tire height.  Just my two cents again (that makes four cents (or no sense)).

and keep the car low, so you only see part of the tire. Rene

BEFORE: 14 X 6 Magnum 500's with 205/70R14's

I liked the Magnum 500's...until 3 months later when they began to RUST!  I will NEVER buy another Wheel Vintiques wheel again.  I've never seen a new wheel rust after 3 months!  :icon_smile_angry:

don't like them, sorry, but to each his own, all that matters is if you like them.

so if i had a set of 17x7 up front and rear 17x8 with 4" backspacing all around would look fine on a stock setup.i'm a little worried with the backspacing  ??

Thanks for the link . But does anyone have any pics of a 17x8 rim in back with 4" backspace and 17x7 4" backspace up front.  Thanks

You'll want more backspacing on the rear wheels (4.5" on an 8" wheel). I have a set of wheels with 3 3/4" BS and it pushes the tires close to the outer wheel lip on the quarter. Since I have 255s on there it isn't a problem but anything wider will probably rub.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

68 CHARGER R/T

Thanks troy . Its because one guy has them for sale in my area of a 70 cuda and was wondering if they would  suit my 68

Troy

It's even worse on the Cuda! ;) That's how I found out I bought the wrong size. Any way, they'll fit - just don't try to put huge tires on them.
