I having been looking at a car that is a Lynch Road built car and I have a couple of questions about the fender tags.  The fonts appear different than the one on my 73 Cuda and 70 Duster??  Is that normal of a Lynch Road car??  Also one of the fender tags just has letters like "C" and I think a "Y" or "V".  However those letters are at odd angles and not in a "row"???

Different plants stampings can look different. They may or may not have used the exact same fonts. (70 LA is a good example) Your other cars were built at different plants.

Do you have a picture of the tag you can post so that it can be compared to tags from the same year to see if the font is the same?

It sounds like you are also describing inspection stamps. They can be letters stamped at odd angles.

No pics as of yet.  But the car might be in the shop in a few weeks  then I will get some pics to post.

The letters at odd angles are what i believe to be some kind of test stampings or quality control markings.

Yes, they were inspection markings.. My '71 Charger R/T had that "extra" plate..........

Mine too.....Also remember that Lynch Rd. cars did not post all the options on the fender tag(s)The broadcsast(build sheet)is always good to have for Lynch Rd.cars becuase it tells you how the car was optioned.

Does anyone know where I can find pics of different fonts on the Mopar tags??  Seems that most of the tags I have found on this site and e-gag all seem to have the same font.  But I do recall seeing a post a year or so ago that some tags were made using a different font.  I sure would like to figure this out before I try to drag this car home. :brickwall: :smilie_help:

in 1970, the LA plant used two different fonts a 'thin' one and a 'normal' one.
Here are some 70 tags. The first show the difference in the fonts at the LA plant
The others are Lynch Road and St. Louis.

The car is a 71 model.  And the tag I saw was the same font as the top tag shown. That is such a relief. :2thumbs:  I was afraid the car might have a "restamped" tag.  If that is possible??? :shruggy:

The top tag is a thin font 70 LA tag. I've not seen a 71 Lynch Road tag with the thin font.

Of course it's possible that it has a new tag. People stamp new ones every day but that doesn't necessarily mean this car has one. You'd have to see how it compares to known originals.

I plan to have the tag checked out by someone that knows more about the cars before I go any farther.  Just to be sure.   :brickwall:
