How are the brake lights supposed to blink?

Im trying to get all my lights working, When turning on the turn single the rear ligths don't blink togeather. It is like the inner brake like dims and the outer brake light blinks brighter at the same time. Is this the way it is supposed to work?  They don't flash as bright as I  think they should, but I never had a car this old before.

My car came with an auto and I put in a 4 speed, I'm trying to figure out how to make my back up lights work. I was thinking of getting a switched 12v source and wire it directly to the switch on the trans then to the Violet wire that runs to the rear back up lights. Will the switch handle the voltage or should I need a relay. I would love to use the same Violet wire to connect to my 12v source. Is there somere that actual sells the correct color wires?

sounds like a ground problem to me , the one light is grounding through the other light

12v to the reverse swith & power from there to the tail lights will work

Sounds like a bad ground.  They should flash with equal brightness together.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Sounds like a ground issue OR bad installed bulbs on sockets.

turning/hazzards/brakes functions share the same wiring and filament on bulb, so be sure that sockets and bulbs are good, tight on tails housing and same position. If everything is good, on a general view then all filaments will be matching position on all 4 bulbs, except if some socket is spined on housing.

I'm not sure if 68 are plastic or metallic tails housing. If is metallic, probably, ground is feeded by housing instead wired. Don't know.

One side is feeded by brown wire and the other side is feeded by green wire. On hazzards and brakes, both wires have power. On turning lights only one or another is feeded.

Gray is ground if is feeded by wire instead direct chassis/housing.
Violet is reverse.
Black is parking light and of course, license light and sidemarkers.
