Maybe some of you already knew this, but my friend in Detroit is a marketing muckety muck for DMC and called to leave a message that they will build the car. I do not have a release date, but it is coming! I am going to wait for the convertible, but I will own one. I am very excited. If this news has been posted, forgive me. I have been away for a while.   That's great, nice car but it's just 2 years too late (gas will be $6 a gallon in '09) for the retro party

I hope its a 2 door coupe. And not another 4 door version of the Chrysler 300.

I say don't get greedy with the Vert's.  If the car looks like the concept and has a big motor and a manual transmission I'll be extremely happy.  We can hash out the niceties like convertibles later but for now I'm just praying for something other than a shoebox.
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

don't worry, it's staying like the concept.  It'll be availiable with a 6 cyl too for the common man to afford, while still keeping the six speed.

I will take the 6 cyl in a heart beat.  I have my other musclecars for the go-go fast stuff.  I just like the darn looks.

believe it or not, it was at Daytona Dodge in May, and we (Daytona Dodge that is) was the only dealership in the country to even have the concept car on display!

Autoweek mentioned that DC was only going to build 20,000 - 30,000 production units.  With so few units of a popular vehicle, they will be able to get well over sticker.   :-[  :eyes:

...IF Autoweek's information is correct.

IF they make a v6 model it will  be a regular production car. They can make a limited number of SRT HEMIS to add to the exclusiveness but don't mess with the others.

I had planned on getting a base v6 with a 6 speed but thought that getting a loan and buying a 70 AMX instead makes more sense.

I don't exspect 30 or even 20,000 made.I exspect this to be another rich man's toy.You know the ones, they are afraid to go over the speed limit and are all about image and are or near retirement. You know, the Viper buyers.Nothing is made for the blue collar guys(i don't mean the office yuppies,i mean the people who really do the work) anymore like the musclecars were.

Well Hemihead, you could buy a new Challenger and change the image of the old fuddy duddy who is afraid to squeal the tires you feel it will get.

Now, where was it I am often at that had a few hundred musclecars driving to their destination at the speed limit and was filled with polishing rags and people concerned about their car's and their images ?
And where probably  50%  or more of the participants vehicles had not been raced on any sort of dragstrip, or racetrack for the past ten years ?

Oh, yeah, it was the local annual Mopar shows..... :icon_smile_blackeye:

Being resentfull of someones wealth doesn't make your sweeping characterizations of them any more true.

Anyhow, lets hope that sales exceed expectations, it should re-inforce the interest of our older vehicles - so more parts reproductions, etc.

why you guys so sold on this car allready?..
I have been disapointed in every offering comming outta DCX since the germans took over...
Im not jumping on the bandwagon yet..

Shakey

So, Dodge shows off a prototype Charger in '99 and then builds something different in '05.

People bitch and complain, piss and moan, cry and wail "those f'ing Germans" wa wa wa

Now, they show us another car, tell us they're gonna build it and the bitchin' and complainin', the pissin' and the moanin' and the cries and wails continue.

::)

Brock Samson

Is that directed at me Shakey?..
cause I ain't bitchin and moaning I'm just sayin, i'd rather wait and see if they deliver on their latest promise, cause if it's anything like they're last promises I'll belive it when i can buy it.
thanks....
