I talked to Mike tonight (a few hours ago) and he sounded tired but good. The doctors checked him thoroughly over the past few days, he said, and amazingly found no permanent damage, which is a miracle in my opinion. He told me his wife had printed off a bunch of pages from this site and probably the '70 Charger registry site so he could read all of your comments and well-wishes on his behalf, and he was very thankful to all of you for the kind words. He also said his wife was going to get on the site here and let us all know how he's been doing. I'm going to go to the hospital and see him tomorrow afternoon and bring him some Mopar reading material to keep him from getting bored before he goes home, probably Monday, he said. He also wanted to thank you all for your prayers.

I'm just amazed at how Mike has gotten through this virtually unscathed and thank God he did.

Hey Gang.. I just got this from Mike's wife: !!!!!!!

In Mike's words:

from Mike:

Hello all...from the bottom of my heart I want to thank you all.  My wife printed all the replies and I started crying several times.  You all mean the world to me and your words and encouragement pull me through, really.  I have made phenomenal success and the doctors said I am checking out tomorrow or Monday.  I'll be in physical Rehab again at the same place I was last time.  I hope to have the same drive as last time when I started walking with the aid of a walker and braces.  Please know you all played a major part in my re-cooperation.  When I can, I'll be back here explaining it all.

This post will be on various websites and threads so please excuse the redundancies: I stopped by to see Mike today and we ended up talking for about an hour and a half. I took him a bunch of car magazines, a poster of a '70 Hemi Charger R/T and a chicken sandwich. The conversation bounced back and forth between Chargers, mortality and the power of prayer and support by you fine people. Kind of an eclectic mix of topics but those were obviously the most important. Mike is doing very well and even said one of the doctors suggested he might go home as soon as today. However, it seems he will be going to a physical rehabilitation facility nearby the hospital to start working on his mobility again. He said there was a lot of speculation that things would turn out much worse than they did (and that was what everyone expected) so he's very happy to have experienced such a strong and sudden recovery. The only real problem he said he experienced was some short-term memory loss -- things like he couldn't quite remember which cars he had, if he was working or not and that he was in a wheelchair. He says it's all back now and all he had to do to remember was sit and think about it all for a while. Once he gets into the rehab section of the complex he'll be able to get online and you can hear it all straight from the horse's mouth. That will probably be no later than Monday, maybe even tomorrow.

Anyway, as far as I can tell, and the experts too, there's no real plausible or scientific reason that Mike should be sitting up talking to anyone right now with virtually no negative consequences, and yet he is. Those of you who have never seen or believed in miracles can now say you just experienced one here.
