how many quarts does it take to fill up a 727 (BB) pan (all stock)....i'm changing my filter today, but i don't think my dipstick is right....
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Should be 18 1/2 pints. I would start checking the dipstick at about 17 pints and fill till full. Remember it can raise some after it warmed up. Dont want to overfill.

I bet you didn`t drain the converter so more like 4 qts to change the filter

A complete empty system is 8 quarters ( from radiator to tranny )
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

depending on the size of the converter & pan , a deep pan can add 2 qts alone
