Where did it say that a cop died? ???  I read he just got shot in the legs.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

SuBLimE 69

Well I seem to have missed a few posts so lemme catch up.   The idea to "Leagalize it" is the WRONG idea.   If you do something that stuipid you will mulitiply the   DUI problem several fold.   for those of you who live out in the counrty or hours from the nearest city this will be harder for you to understand since you dont see that much traffic but humor me for a second....(I say a second since you prolly already packed up a bowl and much of your attention span has already been smoked up years ago).   In large metro area such as Atlanta there is a moderate volume of traffic on the road 24/7.   Large interstate....some 10 lanes wide and tricky intersections and high merge ramps ect... If you are jacked up you can not negotiate these roadways....Alcohol is legal so everyone goes out and gets trashed and acts like its a competetion to see if they can make it home.   Legalize the crops and now you are going to have even more people going out getting f'ed and trying to drive.   I have been a DUI officer for the over four years in "metro" Atlanta and I have cleaned up some really nasty accidents cuased by some jackass who thought they could fire up some weed and drive.....and I cant count the number of people who had a beer and some weed and even further compounded their level of impairment but thought they could drive because they just smoked a lil or just drank a lil.....Well this kills people...hoopefully only the moron who is imapired but it never seem to work that way.   I dont know why you can tell this to an alcoholic or a heavy drinker and they agree with you...hell they completely understand.   but when you pitch this to a hippy "I grow it, I somke it, Legalize it freak" they dont seem to get it ?
I have testifed in every level of the legal system as an expert witness....I have been to countless number of extensive traning courses regarding drug impairment.....I have even trained defense attorneys what to look for when thier client comes to them all f'ed up.   I am also freinds with the biggest names in the DUI defense world.   Under their breath they all...yes ALL agree with me when it comes to this topic....I have conveinced some very die hard liberal hippys after showing them first hand using staistics and live people as examples that to legalize is not the answer.
I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH YOU DOING ANY DRUG IN YOUR OWN HOME.   I do have a problem with it when their are kids in your home who see it.   You then train them how to be shit bags and they are basicly rasied with that much less of a chance.   I have a problem with the people who spend weverything they own to get a fix and leave their kids living in a pay by the week roach infested motel with no education....You know the first drug any of those poeople ever tried.... MARIJUANA !   Dont beleive me ?.... but I see the shit bags every night and they all have the same sob poor pitiful me story.   If you are strong willed enough to only smoke a little weed and never feel the urge for something just a little stronger then fine.....most people are not and that is where the problem will start to spiral out of control.   If you live out in the far reaches of rural USA then fine.... go get f'ed up and dirve or do whatever you like and see if you make it home.   Chances are you will not see another car on your drive home and if you crash you will only kill yourself.   If you live in the metro or suburban area you will pass dozens of cars if not hundreds on your way home....MY WIFE and KIDS might be in one of those cars.   Is it fair to them that you endanger thier life when they drive becasue you choose to get all f'ed up ?   True accidents do happen but they happen alot less when everyone is playing by the rules.

Aight, thats just a small sample of my soap box speech WHY NOT TO LEGALIZE...I'll step down and yeild to all those fixing to flame me.   I dont expect you to understand since you don't see what i do.   Everything relates back to drugs...atleast where I work.

This ticket is only $69.00 ?  If I'd have known that I'd have been going FASTER !

SuBLimE 69

Wow that was a long post...for those of you already stoned or just you long time smokers......PM me and I'll mail you an audio tape.

this sure switched gears inna hurry,...

I have a question....
Here in Nor Cal at Infinion Raceway the Calif. Hwy Patrol often conduct drivers training excerices, where they get folks"impared" on shots of beer 'n such and then turn 'em loose on a course made up of orange cones and document their "progress"... after succssesive shots...
So Im wondering,.
Does anyone or any Dept. do something similar using Bong hits or whatever?

dodgecharger-fan

Quoteyou wouldnt see some dude getting shit because of a grow operation

but they'll get shit for stealing electricity to run the operation...

Again probably just a fine, but legalizing it won't solve the whole problem. There will still be criminal activity.

Booze is legal, but people still make their own hooch.
Gambling is legal in some places, and people still have bookies.

For the record, I'm not arguing against legalizing marijuana. I'm not for it either. I'm indifferent on the whole subject.
I just wanted to point out a piece of the puzzle that usually gets lost in the argument.

LahTera

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, and frankly, I would rather they make it ALL illegal, too, BUT!  I know that's not going to happen as the 1920s demonstrated.  Thus, the next best thing is legalization so there is at least SOME measure of control over it.  That's why my opinion is as it is.  Making it illegal doesn't stop people from doing it and driving, tho.

And drunk drivers are the worst.

As for the growers that shot a cop, they became more than just growers when they let a bullet fly from the gun and should be treated accordingly.  Marijuana isn't worth lives.  (Neither is alcohol.)

And just as a little twist, it's not marijuana that is the first drug most folks try.  In my lifetime of observation, that would be alcohol.

LahTera

69DodgeCharger

Sublime,

Got any unbiased statistical facts to back up those assertations you've made? Or, is this just you personal opinion as a cop. Of course nobody should be stoned behind the wheel, anybody knows that. I also see you just couldn't resist the urge to throw in some insinuations that all tokers are unable to concentrate on a task even as simple as reading your "rant' of a post. Or your assumption that all tokers are "shitbags" As far as multiplying the DUI problem, that is ludicrous at best. Most tokers I know don't drink alcohol for obvious reasons, although that still doesn't justify them driving while stoned. "Atlanta has a large interstate system up to 10 lanes wide"....Tell us something we don't know that is actually valid to your argument. Do your "extensive training courses regarding drug impairment" include any real world experience? If not you have no idea what you are talking about. You are friends with the "biggest names in the DUI defense world" Really? and what does that have to do with marijuana?....besides nothing. As far as marijuana being the main gateway drug, that's bullshit, pure and simple. Alcohol and tobacco are the real gateway drugs. But your fine with that because they are legal if used under the "proper" guidlines right? Personally I've seen more "shitbag" alcoholics" and people that spend their last dime for cigs in the last five years than I have seen "shitbag" tokers in my 40 years. "True accidents happen but they happen a lot less when you play by the rules" Interesting statement coming from a police officer. I worked extensively with state and county police at my last job and following the rules was not something that applid to them very often. There is no changing your mindset so why bother. You will go through your life with your same closed-minded hardline approach to almost all subjects you encounter. Heres a question though, How can the law enforcement community justify the costs of marijuan interdiction and the continued prosectution of what is over 90% of the time (In my opinion) a "victimless" crime? The answer....They can't! How can a Police agency possibly justify a cost of possibly tens of thousands of dollars, helicopter flight time, overtime for 20-40 police officers to seize 20-30 immature plants and call it a "success" You would think with the methamphetimine problem sweeping across this country like a wildfire the law enforcement community would get a better grip on their priorities, but here we are still busting "personal use tokers" The costs, better than a billion a year at the national level cannot possibly be justified under any stretch of the imagination. You know it. I know it. The general public knows it.

No, we will go out into the areas we know we can find people using or about to go use and ask them if they want to come help us with training.   they usually know they are going to get a free meal or two so they go get fooked up and call 911 and ask to be transported for training classes.   I have even had people tell me.. "no I aint been smoking but I'd like ya'lls food at the jail, let me go see if my husband has been smoking".   She left and came back and found us about 30 minutes later.   She said "hey fellas....I just hit 70 bucks worth..(refering to crack) Ya'll serving sandwich and koolaid again ?"   I took her down for training...they evaluated her and showed the rookies what to look for a couple hours later she was so happy she got to eat she told me where a dealer who ripped her off lived.   (he sold her soap chunks instead of crack) hahaha, we knocked on his door and told him we were there to see if he had fresh batterys in his smoke detectors......the dumbass invited us in and wouldnt you know he had a whole frying pan full of fresh baked crack on the stove.....damn shame...

And what does taking advantage of a hungry crackhead have to do with your argument against weed? If that reply is the best you can come up with you need to educate yourself a bit about the realities of todays society.

any real world experience ?   Are you freaking kidding man ?!   I do it every night and am leaving here in 20 minutes to do it again !   The reference to the biggest DUI attroneys that they agree DUI marijuana is a problem and would be even worse if Marijuana was legalized... Thats what they have to do with each other you rocket scientist......   Your comment regarding gateway drugs....alochol and tobacco are legal other wise i'd agree.....   the reason for using Atlanta and its large interstae was to give an example of the massive traffic volume...some people have never been there.   If your a dumbass please dont post...have a vaild argument and I'll debate it.

Now I have to laugh!

:lolexplode:

I know plenty of attorneys, criminal defense and DAs alike, that would rather see it legalized in Alaska.   No doubt about it.

Maybe things are just different in Atlanta than they are in Alaska.

Oh, they definitely have enough of that with the crack and meth hitting the streets around here lately.  Now THOSE drugs scare me!  More like the people that are on them scare me.  They tend to get a bit psychotic, ya' know?

I guess you could say that for me, marijuana is a "stopping" drug.  I won't do anything harder.   :icon_smile_wink:  Not with what I've seen it to do other folks!

BTW, I am NOT a grower!  Growers in Alaska must be licensed, or risk getting popped.

my question still stands RE: driving impaiment under the influence of THC...

69DodgeCharger

Really? got the names of those defense attorneys? Care to put your money where your mouth is. You are a joke. Obviously you can't even control your emotions enough to resist calling people "dumbasses" and "shitbags" while engaging in a valid debate. Fact is your outwitted on this one and it bothers you. I understand. I don't like it when I'm outgunned either. It's a natural human reaction. Furthermore, if the Atlanta law enforcement community is taking advice from crackheads in regards to training, then the citizens of Atlanta are in real trouble. Maybe they took some of their courthouse prisoner supervision training from the prisoners themselves. Maybe Brian Nichols was one of the consultants? You need to get in touch with reality and concentrate your efforts on causes that are worth pursuing. If I remember correctly about 65-70% of the general public favors legalization and so do about 35-40% of the law enforcement community. Not to mention the majority of legal and social experts who have spoken out on this subject. Do some research before running your mouth. It will serve you well.

Hey, let's lighten this up, eh?

Personally, I think I'm more impaired when driving straight.   :drive:

Better hurry up 'n get yur licks in now, before the mods see this and decide it's turned political...  :dancinglock:
(Personally I'm enjoying the debate)

69DodgeCharger

I don't really consider them licks. Just points to a debate, although it is political. Sure smoking weed is bad, everybody knows that. But no amount of heavy handed legislation is ever gonna stop an individual from making that personal choice, and the ungodly amount of money spent fighting it is just money flushed down the toiltet that could be used for much better causes. Thats all I'm trying to say.

More than happy too put my money where my mouth is but again I'll have to correct you first.   I can control my emotions will no problem..I just have little pateince for stupid people who live to argue over the internet....espcially the Yankee Democrate from Michigan....   As far as the crackhead...they dont take advice FROM them...they evaluated them and teach new officers what to look for "indicators of impairment" ...   I'm going to work now...you should be safe to flame me until I get home.....try consuling man it might help ya..... :icon_smile_blackeye:

You know I think I was misunderstood here....I wasnt flaming the "responsible smoker" here.....If you wanna fire one up in your home then goahead...   Everyone cant be trusted to take a responsible approach when they do that stay home.... and not drive.   My complaint was that legalizing the herb will muliply the DUI problem the counrty already has...thats only one reason not to legalize..... and one I am very familiar with.

69DodgeCharger- I can agree that the meth problem far put weighs that of weed....my statements were regarding the legalization of Marijuana.
