Told, it was the LARGEST single gathering of Chargers ever. Over 600 cars expected to be in attendance

I would like to go but I can't renew my membership now it's too late.  I don't know why this can't be done at the gate on the day of the show.  It also seems silly that the show is private and closed to the public.   ::)  I know he says it's so everybody will be Charger owners or members and you don't have to wonder about who your talking to but.... if I don't have credentials hanging around my neck won't you know that I am not a Charger Registry member.   ::)  My Charger is in no shape to go to the show but I would like to attend.  Hell I would pay $35.00 to get me and my family in without a membership.  This seems like one of those exclusive deals where you can't be a part of our gathering because "we are special and your not".  I like talking to people whether they have a Charger or not when I'm at a show.  Anyway, does anybody know about Columbia?

I'll be there, as I have for the past five years.  That is the beauty of living where I do.....  I will take pics, but I don't know if my camara will work well or not (sometimes it does, other times.... :flame:).  It is definately worth going to, especially since I am buying some charger parts from a buddy (a 69 drivers fender plus some other things).  The place gets quite hot fast (black asphalt) so prepare with suntan lotion or face a sunburn.......

Anyone coming to the Columbia show might want to watch the weather forcast for Sunday (50% chance of rain, possibly heavy at times over the weekend).....

I'll be there regardless, but it will probably scare off some of the higher dollar stuff if there is any chance of hail in the weather forcast.  I was watching show-me weather on channel 23 and most of the storms will be later on towards the evening hours on Sunday, which is good news.  The last five times I have went to the show were so sunny that I got sunburnt eventhough I had on SPF 45 (mostly due to the black asphalt and shining chrome). If you have never been to the show, prepare to be hot.......

I went to it and it was 2/3 the size of last years show.  Not bad, but it started to rain so I left for home (need to get some work done today).  I got a 69 Charger gas cap and trim ring for $20, two Torque Thrust Ds for a descent price and 73 mint early 70s-late 60s car magazines (High Performace Cars, Hot Rodder, etc...) in a package deal from someone I always buy from (he always gives me a good deal).  I decided not to buy alot of larger items this year as I was restricted in storage space on the car that I arrived in.  I did not see any winged cars there this year, but the rain might have caused that.  There were around 5 second gen Chargers there (one had a ad in the trunk for a 1970 Charger RT for sale at $42000 that was burnt orange).  Overall, it was a good show, but I was expecting more Charger parts in the swap meet (hopefully next year)..........

I went too.  I had a swap space but didn't do much business.   :'(  Almost not worth my time to go all the way down there.  Sold some magazines and a few odds and ends.  Lots of lookers but not too many actual buyers.  What can I say my cheap stuff is cheap and my expensive stuff is expensive.   :shruggy:  A ton of people were asking about my uncut '69 charger radio bezel then they looked at me like I was an idiot when I priced it at $100.  Hey, if I can't get that for it I'll just keep it.  Maybe that's too high but last I checked they don't reproduce them.  I should probably just ebay it and get $150.00.  Anyway, it gets frustrating to go to these things and have people expect you to give them parts.  Also, the swap spaces were too small.  We had to buy two to fit all our stuff in and we really don't take that much. There were lots of cool cars but not the turnout that everybody was telling me about.  I probably won't make the trip next year unless it's as a spectator.

Daytona R/T SE

Columbia used to be one of my favorite shows, I'll bet I went 10 years straight without missing a year...then they moved it to a different place, I went the first year they moved it...haven't been back since....just ain't the same...

MOPARHOUND!

I didn't go.....but I did go to our monthly HPAC Mopar club cruise-in west of Columbia in Kansas City Saturday night.  Usually 60-70 members show up, if not more.

Might have had 35 at the most with all the rain in the forecast, and most of those were in pick-up trucks.

The last of us headed home around 9pm when it began to lightning in the west.

Thanks Kevin, I have been looking at the magazines and they are way cool (especially the late 60s-early 70s Hi Perfomance Cars).  I found an article in there about Balwin Motion Corvettes that will help me build my clone.  I am much closer to actually getting a car done thanks to the good deals that you always gave me.  Thanks again and I look forward to next years meet.......
