Hey guys I need help quick, thought we had everything hooked up right with the wiring, checked the plug wires and they were right ,thought we might be off 180 degrees with the distributor but it should be right. The car will not fire. we have spark at the plugs. Even added another ground wire at the box to the fire wall. Could the new coil be bad or weak? Have any of you had similar problems and if so what did you find? Also we are getting fuel to the plugs.

Thanks

I forgot to tell you it is a 440 hp engine

Sounds like you have a weak spark or it's not getting to the plugs when it should.

Did you check the air gap in the distributor?  Are you sure the timing is close enough to start the car?

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

I am not sure what you mean by checking the air gap in the distributor, we have spark but I don,t think it is as strong as it should be.

thanks for replying

He is making reference about the gap between reluctor and pick up. Correct gap is 008.

Not sure about this but I have known about bigger gap will get also bigger spark ( and backwards ) but that has a limit of course where you gan get no spark.

Anyway, my advice is 008 gap and is what book says... works perfect.

Check also the ballast resistor conditions.

Well I found out why it would not fire, it seems 6 of the intake push rods were bent and not allowing gas to the plugs, now my question goes from electrical to mechanical, this was a fresh rebuild and the builder has a good reputation. Any Ideas as to why this happens?
