does any company make hood for cars that you can see through like plexi glass or fiberglass? i was looking at my younger bros car model of a 69 charger and it has a see through hood and it looks really cool tinted green, anyone?-MATT

no fiberglass has too many impurities to be clear,.. it would have to be some other material like lucite or lexan and i think it's cost prohibitive, some Ferraris have see thru bonnetts but not many, only the most expensive models and their kinda small in surface area compared to a chargers hood, maybe a 1/4 of the size.
but,.. you could make your own,..  :icon_smile_big: be sure to post pics... ok?. :icon_smile_wink:

It would be hard to do a Charger hood like that, as I doubt the impressions would come out well as you would neet to stretch the material and that would turn it flat, so I doubt it would be easy or cheap to do. But like most things if you throw enough money against it most things are possible. It just hasn't been done yet.

it would be totally do-able, with the right money.  The Ferrari F40 had a clear engine cover, and it had some mouldings in it, so you could definately do the indents in the charger hood.  where you would get this work done?  ...no idea...sorry

I was wrong.

There is a company in Milwaukee called Cadillac Plastics. They do all kinds of plexi-glass fabrication work. I am sure a one-off would be pretty expensive though. They made a clear plexiglass hood scoop for one of the bowtie guys.

Not sure what it would take for a whole hood and I wonder if it would hold up to the engine heat.

Well plexi glass usually holds up pretty well against heat, I think it would survive the heat of an engine. I would be more worried about keeping it clean :-\
