What have you checked tried so far?
sounds like a dead battery to me.  :ahum:
Is anything else affected? Does the radio work? how about when you try to start it - does the radio die while trying to start it?

start with making sure it's in park or out of gear, like neutral, jump the starter with a screwdriver under the hood.  could be a neutral safety switch.  check your battery cables for corrosion and tightness.  check starter cables loose corroded.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Got it going, Hit the starter with a hammer and then replaced the coil and everything was good

coil or solenoid? If you had to jar the starter it might give you problems again, then again maybe not.  my winch in my trailer does the same thing every now and again.
sweet though! it's alive!!! it's alive!! :METAL:

Its a project car and won't be driven regularly. It hasn't been started in a year and needed to move it so the starter will be changed when its restored.

you should be ashamed of your self not starting that motor in a year. thats the worst thing you can do to a motor. is not running it. Rene
