I'm going to get a be cool aluminum radiator 33" wide height 19" thickness 3".
mildon high flow water pump, and a mildon high flow 180 thermostat.

My question is should I get a radiator without a built in trans cooler and just
use my b@m (11"x 6") trans cooler. would that help keep my 440 cool not
having the extra heat of the  727 trans going through the radiator. does
anyone have this radiator and how does it work.

here is what i have

68 charger r/t
440hp
1967 closed chambered heads(915)
heads mild port, bowl blended, port matched
mopar purple .484 cam
holley dominator intake
850 holley double pumper
mopar perf electronic conversion kit
hooker headers 1"7/8 to 3" collector
hedmen x-pipe
40 series flowmasters 3"
3000 stall with 0 balance flex plate
8 3/4 with 3.91
3 core radiator from yearone
stock water pump
7 blade mechanical fan with an electric fan in front of the radiator
fan shroud.
carter high flow fuel pump

when it gets above 75 or 80 degrees it runs like sh*t. below 75 degrees it runs great.
my temp runs around 210 to 220. don't know how accurate the gauge is so I'm going
to put in an autometer electric gauge. I have played with the timing recurved the
distributor and vacum advance. i have even plugged off the advance and ran the timing
anywhere from 32 to 38 total. runs good until it gets up to 210 to 220. then it wants to
detonate when i hit it.  and sometimes when she is at 220 at idle she dies, she does start
back up. i hope this be cool radiator and mildon high flow water pump will do the trick.
I'm tierd of leaving my charger home on nice days :rotz:

i just got my radiator from wizard cooling and it is a thing of beauty! i told them what motor i had and how much horsepower it was building and he told me no problem. i also had them put the trans cooler in the radiator, also a 16 inch electric fan.

the Best way to illustrate this is when you have welded something & blown on it how fast does it cool ?
now dip the welded piece into water or oil , how fast does it cool now ?
a small cooler in the rad is far more efficient
