Man, tough to look at, but back in '82 what were most of you guys doing? I was watching the Brewers try and win a world series. I loved Ben Oglivie's batting stance, and don't get me started on Cecil Cooper.  ;)

Thanks for the pics Barry.  :yesnod:

looks like it held up pretty good, considering it was probably playing with some huge land yachts.

MassCharger73

Not that I want to give anyone any ideas, but that thing bent up perfectly. The trick is to get the back to bend up just like that.

That was how it looked before, back in 82 that car was a write off it was just not worth it to be fixed. Sad but true.

In 1982 I stripped my 69 Super Bee and pushed it into an irrigation pond on my fathers orchard because it was "too rusty" to save.  I've fixed worse cars since then.

69charger2002

you know what is sad.. how fast those cars rusted and how badly they were abused.. that's like seeing a 94 model car today.. usually not that rough looking, unless it's a beater truck. but of course they aren't technically the same bodies as old so the comparison isn't as equal, but still. my 97 ram i beat on every day, and in 3 years it won't look near as bad as that 70 charger did in 82.

Yeah the quality of especially the bodies were bad compared to what the standard is today + a gas crisis just made these cars unwanted.

I must admit that I put a 71 Charger 500 through the derby after I had stripped what I wanted off of it. This was back in about 1986 ? :icon_smile_dissapprove:

In 1982 I was making the transition from bmx to internal combustion and my first vehicle, a 4 year old Power Wagon. I was also routinely riding/driving by an abandoned 66 Charger down the road from my house and wondering how I could get it. That, and being hung up on Terri Garr.... :icon_smile_tongue:

not to make anyone feel "old" but in 1982 I was being born  :icon_smile_big:

At one time you could see it through the ice in the winter.  It landed on it's side down there.  The pond was filled in about 8 years ago so it has probably nearly completed it's return to the soil by now.

I got married in 82 :rotz:
Back in the late 70's/early 80's I use to drive a rescue boat for the Hydroplane races for the races at the Moore Dam in Littleton, NH. There were two classes of boats where the driver could run any size gas engine. The preferred engine was the 440. Many driver's told me stories of buying a RR or Charger R/T for $500.00, removing the engine and throwing out the rest of the car. :'(

Yeah she was the bomb in young frankenstein and mr mom.  Got over 130 movie and tv credits to her name, although a lot of comedy she's still a good actress in my book.

Yep.  I failed to win the second grade spelling bee in 1982.  I'm still haunted by that.
