Ok, ok, I've done searches, read post after post.  So now I just need to ask.  My 727 is tired and peeing fluid all over my exhaust.  I need to have it out.

Didn't I read something once upon a time about a 4 or even 5 speed auto trans aftermarket upgrade?  Does this exist?  Or am I stuck with 3 gears and a  rebuild?

If you don't know my car, this goes behind a blown 440.  As always, thanks for your direction.   :icon_smile_cool:

Wow thats cool ! How much do you want to spend? You need a strong trans like the 727. The factory does make 4 speeds autos now but it would not last in that car. I would stay with the 727 unless you have deep pockets.

I wouldn't mind spending some money if I could get a 4 or 5-speed auto that would hold up to some power.

You can do a 727 with a gear vendors unit.  6 speed automatic that will handle your abuse if the internals are built right on the 727 housing (the GV unit will hold, just stipulate your motor and application when ordering) www.gearvendors.com OR, you can get a A518 (4 speed auto/OD) placed behind there and built up nice and tight for your application.

Because of your blower and the amount of torque/hp that puppy produces... I would simply get a CRT or A & A tranny built for you by the pros.  www.coperacingtrans.com and www.aandatrans.com  Both of those places are very reputable and can do whatever you need based on your application.  John Cope is a true racer and can build a very good transmission.

RD pretty much said what I would have told. you.  I plan on running a 727 behind my supercharged Hemi,  But if you like OD you have the options he listed.

A 727/GV combo is probably right for you.

Keisler is coming out (for the last year or so) a GM based 4 speed auto based on a 4L65.   Blowers like to eat that stuff up.   That's probably what you recall hearing about.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?
