Man, I hate to see you loose her.   Hopefully you got one on the "back burner" ready to restore?  I must admit, everthing has it's price, but I thought you were joking about selling it?  wow, just; wow.

Well Chris,

If there ever was a time to sell this is it. I'll admit it has crossed my mind as well but I have to finish it first.

I really hope you plan on sticking around if your baby meets reserve and finds a new home.

Probably one of the nicest restorations I have seen on ANY car, Charger or not, and definitely one of the nicest Chargers out there. Chris, I have no idea how you keep that car so clean?!  :shruggy:

With prices the way they are right now, easily a $35K to $40K car or better...matching or not...it's beautiful!

I hope it all works out in the end for you Chris, good luck.

I see some familiar names on that bidding list ;).

Truth be told, if you could get over 40K for this car http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Charger-REAL-69-RT-1969-DODGE-CHARGER-RT-BEAUTIFUL-REAL-RT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6199QQitemZ4567342997QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW   why not test the waters. If I told some of you a year ago that you could possibly get 50K for a non-#'s auto Charger, you would call me a nut. Well if these auctions are legit, you tell me if you wouldn't think of selling?

Wakko

Yikes, 40k for that car??  Chris should be able to get 50 then.

Chris I hope you still have a back up charger if it does sell, you wont be able to live without at least a parts car sitting in your yard.

69pistolgripRT

Chris,
I know how you feel. Fellas, I've spent years restoring my '69 and can say without bragging that it is as nice as Chris' although done to my taste and not the purist. But, I can see Chris' reaching 50K plus and mine as well in today's market. That would do alot for me and my family and I am mulling over the same decision. I am honestly torn and take my hats off to a guy who is doing what he feels is right despite the sentimentality attached to a lengthy resto like his (and mine).

Hats off to you, brother; I respect you for it.

Wow, definately not what I was thinking I'd find on the board after a weekend at the nationals.

Sorry to hear about the possiblity of having to let the Charger go. But you couldn't have asked for a better time with just having the print up in the USA Today and all. Also with the way that prices are recently, that should help too.

I know this weekend I seriously considered selling the 500. Was talking to a man who has a HEMI 500 and he was looking to add a 440 powered 69 500. He asked me 4 different times this weekend what figure would it take to go home with the 500. I told him it would need to be more than $70K, and he said "I can do that right now if you'd like."

With my wife not working, that definately a hard one to turn down. But we came home with the 500, and hopefully we will be able to afford to hold on to it for many years to come. However it is nice to know that if push comes to shove that we always have some way to come up with financial support pretty quickly.

Chris,

Whatever your reasons for selling are your reasons... I have seen your car in person and it is one of the NICEST cars on the road. Question though, is it possible for you to wait until say Barret-Jackson - I know it would be a hassle, but your car would fetch MAJOR cash there.

Again, wish you didn't have to sell, but all the best to you and I hope everything works out well.

Cheers - Mike

Wow!! Chris you are the last guy I thought would sell their Charger, but I guess other things become priority. Anyway, I hope you get more than what you are asking for it and I hope everything works out in your personal situation. I'm glad that the trophy picture came in handy for you. When I get my Charger finished I'll try to make one of your Richmond County get togethers. I'm just afraid of driving the Charger on the Belt Parkway. You know the condition of that road sucks big time!!!

Chris, this has to be bitter sweet for you...I can't imagine. You obviously have a lot of blood and sweat into that car, it shws from every angle. I've been watching closely and your car went to $35K FAST, and I can see it hitting $50K before the deadline... I don't know your situation, but what may take a little of the sting out of losing her is looking for a $5K to $10K project car while the auction is still going on and earmarking some of the proceeds. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know or haven't thought of, but what I'm suggesting is that if you put the word out now, here, with all the members that we have, I'm sure you would have plenty of guys willing to help you find a viable candidate....just a thought...

This might be a crazy thought but I was just wondering to keep Chris's car from going to someone we dont know and outside the "membership" and still give him the chance to keep it. It would take all the members to buy a raffle ticket at let's say $ 85.00 X 700 members (if all members participate) = $ 59,500, Not sure if that covers his reserve. I guess it would be to hard to get all members to participate. Oh well just a thought.

Up to $34,600 and still 3 days to go.

Chris I hope things change for you so you can keep the ole girl. We all know how heart broken you will be without her. Of course $60,000 may help the heart a bit :icon_smile_big:

Dodge Don

Chris, not sure what your issues are......but recent events (DOH....the press you got....show awards)  have given you a golden opportunity to unload her at a premium price. Financially this is a windfall. If you're thinking with your head and not your heart the time is ripe to cash in.....

And then get a 70 R/T  :yesnod:

Shakey

I also noticed that not much has happened in the past couple of days.

Forget e-bay.  If you really want to sell it, take the suggestion above about waiting for Barrett-Jackson in January in Scottsdale,AZ or perhaps you could decide on what you want/need for the car and list it in Hemmings.

Also, there is a fellow in NY that is looking for a # 1 car and your car may not match his description, however if he saw it he might just be flexible.
