wheel spacers?

Ok, the car is my 2002 Sebring ragtop. I have a set of factory chrome rims with brand new tires that came off a late 90's Sebring Limited.

I ran these on my 1996 Sebring ratop with no issues and kept them when I sold that car.

Today, I try to mount these on my 2002 and they will not clear the front brake calipers. Chryco must've have started using larger calipers at some point.

My question is, has anyone ever use wheel spacers? If I picked up a 1/2 inch, I think it'd be more than enough.

Any safety concerns?

Are the studs going to be long enough? You know what the guarantee probably says, "any modifications to the vehicle will null and void warrantee". Just my two cents.......can't offer you any technical opinion. :icon_smile_big:

The studs won't be long enough for a 1/2 inch, I wager.  Not that big of deal to swap out the studs, but is it worth it?  Make sure the threads come COMPLETELY through the lug nut.

They're chrome lugs so they're not going to come through and yeah 1/2" would require new studs. That's not going to happen. I could go for a 1/4" or 5/16" and see if I gain enough cleareance without having to replace the studs.

One guy recommended these:

That would probably solve the problem and not require new studs but the current studs would probably have to be shortened. Just as big a PITA as far as I am concerned. Plus, I would think that I'd have to run them all around or it would look stupid.

What do you think?

I say scrap the idea, but that's me.

That's what I am leaning toward.

Wonder if they'll fit on my 67?
