After watching "Vise Grip Garage" and seeing wipe on clear coat stuff I decided to try it on my 70's old white Kirker paint job I did 8-10 years ago. (Low dough repair.) Hardly ever washing and never waxing the paint is satin like with shiny spots where I redid things that were not holding up. I'll report back after using it. A few online stories edged Poppy's Patina over VGG's and I figured it's the same anyway.  :scratchchin:

I'd be curious for sure..... it would be good for my ratty beater '73 Road Runner.

Okay got a tracking number and picked up a mixing cup and 4 terrycloth covered sponges from Home Depot costing 7.00. Ordered 3 gray 3M "fine" scrubbers for 8.00 from O'Riley's. So 133.00 shipped for clear and 15.00 add on, we are at 148.00 all in. My Dakota has badly peeling clear, like sunburn. I'll test some on that also.  :scratchchin:

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Back in the 70's a local used car dealer did something similar to this process on the cars he had for sale out on his lot.

What was the name of this special paint detailing product he used ?

...Automatic transmission fluid.  :eek2:

Man...Talk about polishing a turd.... :hah:
Why would anyone advocate this stuff instead of doing it right?
I actually know why. It is because they have flexible standards and a thin wallet.
You can do so much better. If you're short on cash, cut out the booze, smokes and fast food for awhile and fix the paint issues the right way.
Sell off some stuff you don't need, do some side jobs, service a few lonely old ladies or something... (kidding)

So yesterday my son and I wiped down the 70. The instructions clearly state NOT to rewipe after 15 seconds that makes a large area like the roof tricky. Not knowing how far the stuff goes I mixed about 1/2 and after a light coat had some left.
I kinda half assed the leftover on my 07 Dakota that has real bad clear coat peeling and we went in to watch the Eagles whip KC. So today I can tell I'll need another coat on the 70 in some areas but the remarkable thing is the change in the old red Dakota. Not really prepped proper it has areas of peeled off and failing clear that this stuff did a real good job of patching. If I had prepped it per instruction I'd had super results. (I got a good deal on the truck due to the peeling clear coat.)
So my second coat has to wait 24 hours and yesterday the temp was at least 80* here. Cooler temp. is critical, we missed spots and went light on the roof because this stuff gets sticky so fast @ 80*. Colder temps like 50* or 60* would be perfect for a better job.  :2thumbs:
