Anyone recall clear plastic seat covers?

As a kid in the 60's one of my jobs was to keep the family cars clean. A few cars had this odd kinda clear vinyl covering on the front and rear seats. With a dimpled pattern they were a bitch to clean and not comfortable as bare skin would stick to them. My old man never let me remove them and it kinda pissed me off. I'm just wondering if it was a local thing or wide spread?

I think it was from Finger Hut, very uncomfortable down here in the desert. Dad had it on his 59 Plymouth wagon and in 66 when he removed it to sell the car the interior was like new.

Ah Fingerhut! Probably a J.C. Whitney item also now that I think about it.

My dad had those seat covers on his 80 or 81 El'Camino.  He loved that thing.   He eventually sold it to a guy he worked with.  The seat was basically new.  So was the cover itself....
