Drag racing, who loves it, who has never done it?

I figure that the average man probably has never ran a car down the strip but what about owners of legendary cars that are famous for their muscle car image?
Are you an active racer? Drag strip, street racing, road course or autocross?
I know that traditionally, these cars were more likely to be drag raced rather than run on a road course but surely the NASCAR Chargers revved you up, right?

Cars like this inspired me to set the stance on my car the way that I did.

How about street racers? I'm not referring to the assclowns that race 4 cars at a time like you see in the Fast and Furious movies, I'm thinking like American Graffiti, "Paradise road" with Milner versus the black 55 Chevy.
Have you ever lined up against someone out in the sticks away from traffic?
I'll admit, I do let 'er loose on the street a bit but if/when I do, no cars are in front of me and I don't go much past the speed limit....I just rocket up to it. That is okay, right?
What about you guys?

Definitely! in my 20's with this car I was an idiot on the street, but now I do more like the OP with getting it up to the speed limit as quickly as possible.

I have raced my Charger many times, mostly when it was still green in the late 90's early 2000's. Got as quick as 12.86 @109 until I pulled it off the road.

Raced it a few years back after the restoration and switching to a 4 speed and I couldn't break into the 13s, way too much wheelspin at the start but it sure was fun. xtrackned1.jpg

Up until the late '90s, I was a regular at street car days at 75-80 and Mason Dixon. Then I started working a lot of nights and weekends then went overseas for about 9 years. Never got back to it.phpIxCk2YPM.jpg20130907_8.jpg

The day after I got my drivers license I was street racing my high school buddies in my '51 Olds. For many years, just about every daily driver I had saw action on the street and the strip including a daily-driver '63 Max Wedge Dodge.

Built my first dedicated drag car and first ran it in '68...a Mopar-powered '55 Chevy. After retiring that I built a blown '62 Dart for the street but eventually turned it into a full-fledged drag car. The local strip allowed me to run the car without the proper safety equipment and licensing but, when it starting going too fast they banned the car. That was in '80 so my only trips down the strip were later muscle cars (Viper, Challenger SRT8) Haven't been to the strip in over 10 years but I still follow the pros.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Us guys in and near Sacramento have no drag strips anymore. This town doesn't seem to be a hotbed of racing activity.
