I scanned this forum and others looking for a permanent fix for the engine dipstick being twisted and mangled. Recently picked up this car and having a heck of a time getting the dipstick all the way down the tube, scared it will break eventually. When I looked at the tube where it goes into the block it has been severely distorted. There is tones of info out there regarding this, but does anyone know of a permanent fix like different mounts, properly formed tube available in the aftermarket, etc, etc?  I'll try post a picture. :brickwall:  :brickwall:  :brickwall:

Looks like it has gotten crushed when putting the engine in the motor mount

Think the best way is to put a new tube in
Does the engine have headers or factory manifolds ?

The tube might break off while you are trying to pull it out of the block so do not assume it will be easy fix if you try to change it but you can get lucky sometimes :)

Hey 70 sublime, Ya that's what I'm afraid of...it breaking off. I'd does have headers. To me it looks like the spool mount will be in the way with another repro tube. I may try to gently fabricate/bend a new tube.

I think have replied about this somewhere else.

73 and lates BB  dipstick/tube assembly is not the same than earliers or MP/aftermarked replacements due, as shown, the engine mount design.

Original ones fits without problems since they are shaped correctly, BUT they are not available except NOS, and the last NOS I have seen on the web was maybe 10-12 years ago on eBay. I have a pic of that tube somewhere on my PC.

I could get correctly shaped MP piece but since my engine is now modified it shakes a bit and the metal used on the MP piece is harder than the original so is not able to hold long time due the lack of flexibility. Actually didn't get crushed since as I told, made to shaped it correctly, but broken JUST RIGHT at the block entry.

73 and lates dude. Lack of parts for them

Even spark plug wires (with the correct lenght to the factory route) are not available for them.

Well... I don't think really helped a lot LOL.

There are flexible tubes that COULD work, but IMHO they look too thick to fit between engine body mount insert and block
