at 50+ years old, it is getting less fun to roll around on the ground when wrenching.  I am planning on swapping my engine in the future and want to do it the way I did it 8 years ago and like the factory did it by pulling the body off the K frame.  Last time I bought a US Tool rig for an engine crane but been kicking around the idea of a 2 post lift.

my ceiling is about 9ft 3 inches and there are many lifts out there that will fit but looking to see if anyone has one in their garage and any preferred brand.  Saw many that do not have the top stabilizer beam and are rated for 9000 lbs.

Ill have to use a chair to roll around in but it beats being on my back.

Anyone have one in their low ceiling garage?

You do have to think of the math of it all.
If the car sits over 4 feet tall at the roof and if you are around 6 feet tall, you need a bare minimum of 10 feet of clearance to be able to walk under the car on a lift.
I knew a guy that wanted a lift in his single story garage. I told him that I could modify his garage roof by cutting the truss webbing and framing in rafters and joists. We never got around to doing it, though it is still a good solution.
Good luck.

Yea, I know if I put in one for low ceilings, I won't be able to stand under it, that is ok with me, Ill just use a rolling chair/stool.

When we had our garage built (3 car, 20x 40) we had the choice to have high ceilings or have a second floor. We went with the second floor which was a good call as it is our storage space since we have a finished attic and basement.  They used pre fabbed trusses which I agree could be modified but that would eat into a good part of the second floor and not what I want to do as some day when I sell this house, the next owners may not want a lift in their garage.

Here is a shot of my garage, plan is to put it where I park the Charger, third bay on the right.

I have thought about putting a lift in my shop also
Think what is holding me back is how much I would use it vs how much it will be in the way all the other times I do not need it

The not need and in the way time is winning at the moment

There are several 2 post lifts that are designed for 8-10' ceilings. Some have the top cross beam. I'm not sure if any are ALI certified if that matters to you. They also make height adjustable reclining mechanics chairs to make working under the car a lot easier. I'd probably bolt some caster under an old Lazy Boy.

My concrete floor is going in this spring and I'm getting a 4 post lift to start. I will need it more thsn a 2 post and I like the added security. I do have 14' ceilings in my new place and may add a 2 post when I start lifting bodies off frames.

I kept on going back and forth about the Quickjack/Maxjax and or a mid-rise lift like the Bendpak.   I then found the EZCarlift - https://www.ezcarlift.com/ .  I talked to the owner/inventor for a while and like the practicality of it versus the size of the MaxJax and the mid-rise lifts.   I then thought to myself that I didn't want to do any cement work, which led me to get a EZCarlift.   For the amount of time I use it, it fits my needs.   Look it up.   It comes with a wall mount so you can hang it when not in use.

I have a Titan scissor lift in my shop. It has a total rise of 54". Very handy. Only drawback is because of its design it makes working on exhaust systems difficult.
I had to replace the engine in my Daytona clone a couple years ago. I used my cherry picker engine hoist to pick the front of the car up so we could remove the engine and K frame from below.

That's how I installed mine. It was easier than I thought.

That method may be easier than using a 2 post lift.

I remove the hood, manifolds/heads and fan/Alt. then unbolt the trans. to pull with a picker.  :scratchchin:
