What's the best hood pad for a 69?

I just got mine from Detroit muscle. It fits good. All holes lined up evenly. I'm not sure how good it is compared to an original pad since mine was long gone before I bought my car.

What does a hood pad do for you ?
Does it make the car quieter from the outside or just keep the hood itself from getting hot ?

I wasn't planning on getting one at first, but due to a miscalculation on my part, the air cleaner rubbed a bit of paint off the underside so it'll be a nice coverup.  :icon_smile_big:

The stated purpose is to insulate the hood from heat but the side benefit is reduced noise.
