Hey all , Maybe it was just wishful thinking but , I thought I remembered reading a number of years ago , someone cut open a tank for setting pick up height and sending unit (gauge) adjustment and rented it out ? Sound familiar to anyone? Thanks

God must love stupid people....he made a sh**load of 'em....

Matco tools...guaranteed for a lifetime. Just not a human lifetime.

You don't need that.
Just take your sending unit and test fit it as is, then remove it and bend the inlet with the fuel sock about 1/2" down and trial fit it. Do this until the base plate will not sit flat against the tank, then bend the line up a little and test fit again. This costs you nothing and will allow you to get the inlet as close to the bottom of the tank as possible.
