1968 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible Project - $7,500

Please note that the parts shown here are not for sale separately & all are included with the car. There are a few other items that were not photographed yet, the stock hood & better shots of the brand new, reupholstered front & rear seats for example, but will also be included in the sale.

I'm not going to be able to get to this project so it's now for sale. It's been kept inside for most of the time I've had it (Since 1996) but it's rough & may have last been on the road in the 1980's. I doubt it runs & I never attempted to start it so the entire drive train will likely need to be rebuilt or replaced. I never checked to see if the motor & trans are original. It's mostly complete with just a few things missing, or other parts in need of replacement from age. The roof is dried out & has a few rips, but the frame & all the hydraulics are there including the L&R, interior, side panels & well liner.

It does not have a fender tag or build sheet but it does have the VIN tag on the dashboard in good condition. It's originally a 318-2V, automatic trans w/ column shifter & power top car. I am pretty sure the red paint, black top & interior colors are original to the car but I have not verified it. The exterior appears worse in the photos because a previous owner had sanded the car & left it that way outdoors. Most of the rust on the outer sheet metal is on the surface & it has pits, but it's still solid except for what is mentioned below. It has an AM radio in the dash but I don't know if it works so assume it is a core.

- Missing items that are available from suppliers new are as follows.....
Radiator
Seat Belts
L&R Roof Latches
L&R Door Panels, Front & Rear

- Parts that will need to be redone or replaced due to rust & wear are as follows.....
Passenger Compartment Floor
L&R Lower Quarter Panels
L&R Front Frame Rails & Torque Boxes
Rear Tail Light Panel
Pot Metal, Di-cast, Chrome Corners for Base of Roof Mouldings  (Pitted & need rechroming or new)
L&R Chrome Trim & "CORONET 500" Letters  (Pitted & need rechroming)
F&R Bumpers  (Need rechroming)

- Good, used, OEM & after market replacement parts that will be included are as follows.....
OEM Trunk Lid
OEM Tail Panel  (Drilled at the spot welds)
OEM L&R Doors  (Still have the original doors with convertible vent windows & frames)
OEM L&R Fenders  (Have surface rust from someone sanding & never painting)
Stock Flat Coronet Hood
Front Valance Between Grille & Bumper
Grille (2 ea) w/ L&R Head Light Bezels (1 pair) & 500 Badge For Grille
New, Year One, L&R, Front Floor Pans  (Rear floor under rear seat still good)
New, Front & Rear, Seat Covers  (Installed on front bench & rear seats)

This car is registered & insured in my name & has a clear, NY State, transferable registration. There are no titles issued in NY for cars that are 1973 & older, so the transferable registration is used instead.

I described the car as best as possible & took photos to show the bad areas, but I encourage anyone interested to come see it in person or have it inspected since it is a major project being sold as is. It is in my garage & on a lift so you will need to make an appointment to see it. Please consider making the appointment well in advance since I am involved in a renovation with my house & will need to move building materials in order to access the car.

I am located in Newburgh, New York 12550.

Send a PM here or email to oldmoparz2 @ yahoo.com with Coronet in the subject so it isn't deleted as spam.

Thanks, Bob

(I will try to add more photos this weekend.)

Found the front seat photo.  :coolgleamA:

It's temporarily in my Satellite convertible & a little dusty but in great shape.  :2thumbs:

Will try to get a good photo in daylight after I clean it & also get the back seat shot.

Might be able to deliver this car with my trailer depending on the distance, accessibility & time frame.
