I needed to rebuild the steering stem coupler which was actually an easy task.  During Column reassembly and installation I discovered a missing part ( see attached )Missing Sleeve.jpg

That part was not there when I took the column apart but expect it should be.  Anyone know of a source or happen to have one they'd let go of?

Thanks so much for any help! Missing Sleeve.jpg

Problem Solved because it never was there.  The sleeve in the service manual photo is not used in my application.

i was just going through my pictures of my own column rebuild back in the day and only saw the thicker part of the shaft in that area, and was thinking it was a later revision or something. glad to hear it didn't disappear.

Yes, there is a sleeve there also on 74s. Is just a safety sleeve to keep the locking wheel pin safely in place (like if it was posoble to come out easily LOL ).

Will search for a pic on the web

Yes I know, it says 70 E body,  but the same for all with ign switch on column.

UNLESS the sleeve mentioned is for the column shifter mechanism... :scratchchin:  :shruggy:

Take a closer look at that breakdown photo.  Where they say a "Sleeve" should be is NOT where the one you think is located.  :shruggy:

I know about that one and it is indeed in place.

Mmmm true... my bad.

Can't recall any sleeve there on any car thought.

That's the place for the turning switch and on that collar goes also the bearing. Never have seen any sleeve on any web pic either for that area :shruggy:

The one that Nacho shows is on the steering wheel side of the lockplate, according to the parts book there should be one on every installation except tilt column..

P/N for the sleeve is 3467178.
