Hi guys,

on top of my 69 383 block, is an Edelbrock 4 barrell with a "Webber" stamping on the side, and also the number 8867.

I realise Webber bought out Carter, and then Edelbrock bought Webber (or so I'm told), but I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little about the carb itself. I've done a few searches to no avail. Just like to know what I have.

NHCharger

That's an edelbrock # 1405 carb. 600 CFM. The edelbrock # should be stamped on the top left hand side I believe. Same thing I have on my 71 Charger SE. I still have the owners manual. If you want I can photo copy it and mail it to you.
Oops, I was wrong. Edelbrock's # is on the base . Front left hand side, under the hole for the mounting bolt.

Thanks for your help. I went out and looked where you said, and it's actually a #1407.

According to Edelbrocks website it's a 750 CFM. At least I've got an idea what I've got. Thanks for the reply.

Also, fwiw, it's a clone of the Carter AFB.  The size is a little larger than the old AFB and the metering rods and jets are staggered differently.  If you have one of the old Carter strip kits, the rods and jets WILL work just fine in the new carb no matter what anyone else tells you.  Edelbrock will say you must use theirs but  a rep did admit to me that they are the same and I have used the Carter stuff in mine with no trouble.
I'm not sure if Eddy bought Webber or if they are just buying the carbs from them and repackaging them.  In any case, they make a great street carb.
