It takes a few weird steps but at least you can repost the same picture without having to rename it. The size limitations make it so I can't post pictures directly from a phone due to their size being too big.

Working on other hobby projects is fun but I finally have some work lined up on my Charger! I just received my driver's side bucket seat track/bracket from Classic Industries.  Since I finished the resto, the seat track has been messed up, it only holds on one side unless you get down there with a screwdriver due to the spring being shot and one of the bearings not rolling as it should.

Ill take some pics when I install that because I plan on playing around with washers under the fronts of the tracks to gain some more reclining action.

I also got my seals for my Strange S60 that has been slowly leaking for 2 years.

Actual work on my Charger about to be done!

I need to try and get my 71 out this year. My life has been a  POS for about 9 years and the last 4yrs been rough due to a ugly divorce. I am broke and been working a lot. My fire for hobbies has went out. My Mopars and old antique radio hobbys are just sitting. I get up go to work come home and sit on my ass til bedtime and repeat. Every once in a while I may do something involving a hobby. Sadly I am turning into that guy with the stuff sitting outside sinking into the ground gonna restore it someday.............but wont sell.

It's been quite some time since I've been reading this forum regularly, largely because I've been distracted with an overwhelming number of smaller projects. Very sad to see it's not so active right now. This place is the library of Alexandria for Charger info, much prefer it to facebook.

Poor charger is buried under a pile of parts but it's in a dry heated garage. Project was kinda stalling out, I had a long list of "while the engine is out" tasks that I was struggling to tackle. A few months back I said screw this, if I don't keep making progress it's never going anywhere so I dropped the motorhome 440 in. Planning to make an ambitious push to get it on the road this summer. TV shows like Roadkill and Roadkill Garage have shown us that these cars can still be cool to own even if they are ratty looking. They look like nothing made today. They sound and perform differently too. We can throw stuff together and enjoy them without beautiful paint and gleaming chrome.

Penthouse Pauper

My thoughts exactly. I'm building this car on a shoestring budget. It's a plane jane triple green, 2 barrel 383 that was almost rusted in half when I got it four years ago. It's structurally sound now and sporting a 4 speed. Still need to do the quarters but i'll do them once it can yard drive. It'll be a lot easier to stay motivated if it's a drivable car. Should be on the road for under 20k all in.

armor64

that is what i love about this hobby. all the work, and at the end you have "a thing!" something you can use forever, or sell if you need to, *shudders*. plus, the work on the car is enjoyable too. slightly related, i got into target shooting/firearms years ago, and going to the range with family was great at first, but slightly costly for ammo. Then i got into reloading as well to save money, and enjoy that WAY too much as well, spending hours cleaning/prepping for the next range day is cathartic.

No offense but I have sent several messages and haven't seen any response from them. I rarely see you guys post here. I want to see the forum survive but to do so, shouldn't we all pitch in a little?

Took my Charger to a local cruise Friday night with my youngest son. Not too many cars there, only 1 other Mopar, a 71 Super Bee that I took a pic of but it did not come out.

KD: I'm trying to do my part but "dead" seems to be the new normal in lots of places now. Unless they are retired, most of the folks I know (& even their kids) these days are pretty-occupied with basic survival anymore (in these days of low & under-employment or bad jobs and high-inflation). The subject of old muscle cars is likely seen as either environmentally-unfriendly or as an opulent remnant of better (but politically-incorrect) times. I've found myself travelling a fair amount of late (Central US & Canada and now the East Coast) and what I'm seeing as I drive around this country (& our neighbor to the North) is pretty depressing. Unpainted and unmaintained homes, bad roads, and junky, old, beater cars (or tiny Korean ones) are now more the rule than the exception.

I clearly don't know about California or some of the other, more-upscale locations, but in the more-rural areas I frequent it's looking pretty tough right now.  My 20-year old son has respectable wheels (and even a decent summer-job) but...he doesn't go hang-out much anymore. The draconian drunk/intoxicated driving laws, coupled with women who do not date much (men are so-toxic, evidently?) has seemingly cramped his style.  The online stuff also seems to be creating a lot less real-time social interaction as well (for his generation). He'll be 21 in December so at-least he can go out to some local watering holes for adult beverages with his buddys and then survey the bar-crowd offerings (which haven't ever been great, but...at least it is something).  I feel for him, being a kid these days doesn't look like much fun to me.

Upscale? Sí señor
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

lloyd3

Mr. Kunkel:  I guess "upscale" doesn't include tents and junk RVs parked under highway overpasses and occupied by otherwise homeless individuals?  Don't feel bad, we have lots of that here in Denver now too.

Kern Dog

I live in a nice area....not rich but certainly not an abandoned RV near an overpass.
Maybe I'm out of the loop. I see despair on the outskirts but it hasn't reached my area yet. Places that tolerate that behavior will get more of it. Areas that chase it out get LESS of it. I wouldn't live in a place with lazy Police enforcement for crimes.

Not at FBBO. That site seems to be holding on quite well. FABO is even bigger.
The 1970ChargerRegistry is owned by a guy that places zero importance on the forum. He is 100% focused on the registry itself. He has done an excellent with it but as far as traffic on the forum, there hardly was any when I was there.

Think about it; this website, dedicated strictly to Chargers, is so dead that it needs a thread titled "Let's talk Chargers, it is so dead here" to try to breathe life back into it.

Ok, fair point, then how about starting some posts about what you are working on, you must have at least 3 Chargers in your stable currently?

I do, but this website is not user-friendly when trying to post pictures here. Here's a couple FBBO links to some of my past junk ....

Awesome! love your new project, I am a member of FBBO but hardly go on there, I should probably stop by there more often.  Yea, posting pics is not ideal, especially from my piece of garbage phone so I just do it from my computer which takes a few more steps.

lloyd3

Picture posting is here is free and very easy with Imgur.

In fact, it works seamlessly just about everywhere I try it.

Kern Dog

The system here isn't difficult once you know it.
I'm not a cave man but sure not great with computers like other people are. If I can figure it out, others can too.
They DID improve the system to where you can post the same picture again without having to rename the file. that was annoying.
To the point of this forum being slow...as an aside, I don't know anyone near me that owns a Charger so maybe it makes sense that this site doesn't have that many members. These cars are great but there weren't as many of these cars built as Mustangs or Camaros so there aren't as many out there today. For every car, there is a small percentage of owners that care enough to get on a forum to discuss them.
Imagine how slow it would be on an MG forum? How about a Saab or Citroen???

In the FWIW column, there was a special-order Silver '68 R/T Charger on one of the lifts at the Petty Garage yesterday and also a convertible(?) '70 Superbird in Limelight. Didn't get close enough to figure out much more than that but, I'd suspect that the Superbird started life as a Satellite convertible (from the trim I was seeing around the taillights) .
