I think GYC has proved that anything can be saved, but the cost.........

Can it be saved?  Sure.  Fixing the roof damage would be a challenge, but it would be much easier than dealing with a severe rust-out.


Just make sure that any cut-n-paste roof work addresses ALL the layers of the inner framework.  Some guys would do a whole roof swap that looks good but it leaves some of the inner layers unattached. 

This is less of an issue these days because you don't find solid intact 2nd-gen roofs in junkyards anymore.  Even if somebody does a whole-roof-swap they will probably still be using an AMD roof skin before the smoke clears.

There are hobby enthusiasts that used to post on this forum that have rebuilt cars as bad as that, maybe worse.
To specifically reference GYC as some authority smacks of a non car guy that is in awe of them and has fallen for the TV hype. TV shows are an act. At best, they are based on reality, not a reflection of it.

Bummer    originally yellow to , how fast was the transporter going 80 & fell from the top deck   anything can be fixed  but theres a massive amount of damage , unless there is a sentimental connection to it with the owner & or one of one rare option combo, its  done for IMO  lifes too short,  hope it gets fixed though ....

That car looks twisted from one end to the other, like a screw.
Maybe with a frame rack, the car could be twisted back to shape. I've looked at the FSM chassis specs. There is a bit of gray area that can be misinterpreted so the repair crew is left to make stuff up as they go.
Yeah, it could be saved but this isn't Cuba. Finding another car is far more sensible.
You could find a 4 door Satellite or Coronet and do a reskin with Charger panels for less money and hassle. You'd be abandoning the Charger "DNA" but what is worse? A car that is structurally a train wreck that has been straightened or a solid platform that has been reskinned?

Graveyard cars may be a good choice if you got less then $100k to spend & not looking for a 100 point OEM restored trailer queen you dont want to drive because afraid you might get a rock chip on perfectly restored under carriage that you paid Roger Gibson over $300k to restore.   Just my opinion, I'm sure others will vary?

P.S. they did a poor screwed up job on that one charger that had the rear end pushed into the back seat but way underpriced it at $30k. there mistake.

Doesn't matter to me what it's worth, I'd look for another car & part this one out. As a matter of fact I could use a ton of crap off this wreck for my rust free shell.

I think it could be fixed but it would have to be someone like Chris Birdsong that knows these cars like the back of their hand. On a positive note, it looks rust free and complete. That's worth a ton in itself on restoring a car.

All it needs is one of those reproduction 68-70 Charger body shells . . .

 . . .  that still don't exist, because the industry is still convinced that there is more demand for friggin Chevy Novas and notchback Mustangs.
