I sold it to a man in Georgia. Although he didn't tell me at the time he apparently he bought it with the idea of flipping it. He sold it at the Mecum auction in Kissimmee earlier this year at a huge loss. I'm not sure who bought it. It has a reserve on it this time so we will have to see if it actually sells.

I appears there is conflicting sale prices for this particular car.
When I log into Mecum, they show a sale price of $407K for this car.
However when I look through old posts the sale prices mentioned are $407K and $825K for the same car.
This is actually from one of your posts WINGIN IT, no disrespect in anyway.
Below is the old post or thread.

If it indeed was $407K, I would say that was a good deal for the buyer.
I guess that is easy for me to say as I was not the one who had to cough up $407K.

The car that sold for $407k was the Omaha Orange 440 car.

That explains it, thanks for the clarification.
So I guess it must have sold for $825K.

Mopar John

So the HEMI Daytona had a hammer price of $750,000.00.
Mecum charges a 10% buyers premium in this case $75,000.00
bringing the selling price to $825,000.00.
They also charge a 10% sellers premium in this case $75,000.00.
So they pulled $150,000.00 of value out of this Daytona!
Then they have all the other add ons for auction floor placement
and what day it will go on the block.
Then add transportation fees, insurance and meals and lodging
if you are going to stay and keep an eye on your car!
This Daytona will have to hammer for $925,000.00
for the owner to break even this time around!

WINGIN IT

Cudavic, no offense taken. It's hard to keep track of the prices sometimes when some sites include fees and some are just the hammer price. I should have clarified $750K was the hammer price as Mopar John broke it down . ;)

68RT440

1968 Charger R/T, matching numbers 440/727, black with green top and interior, currently getting restored by me

69hemidaytona

According to the guy that bought the car from me, he had Dave Wise inspect it and the buyer claims that Dave Wise stated that it is currently the best restored Mopar in existence. I really thought it should have brought more than it did at the last auction but apparently the right buyers just weren't there.

69_500

In my opinion it is easily the nicest restored HEMI Daytona out there. Now I am an odd ball though and I have a few restored Daytona's that I put ahead of this one as far as nicest restored Daytona's around. But I am a stickler and definitely an odd ball.

Aero426

Sold hammered at $800k, + 80k buyers fee = $880k to the buyer.   $720k net proceeds to the seller.   Auction house is the winner.

Mopar John

So this Daytona hammered last time at $750,000.00 then add $75,000.00 buyers premium for a total of $825,000.00!
Here only a few month's later the reserve comes off at $625,000.00 or a $200,000.00 loss at that point!
The Daytona then ends up selling like Doug has reported at $800,000.00 plus the buyers premium of $80,000.00!
The seller will receive $800,000.00 minus $80,000.00 for a net of $720,000.00 or a $105,000.00 LOSS!!!
I am starting to wonder about the whole sale on this car?
Since it sold for $750,000.00 and now a few month's later for $800,000.00 it shows me what a OE restored common color automatic transmission HEMI Daytona is worth at this point in time.

One thing we've learned is that it's nearly impossible to buy at an auction and then turn around and sell at an auction and have any expectation of coming out ahead. The transaction costs are just too high. Does anybody know who bought the car at the Kissimmee auction or who bought the car in Monterey?

It used to be Buy low & Sell high. But now people think they can Buy high & sell for even higher. That's like playing Russian roulette with your money, you win some you lose some. in most cases you'll lose :scratchchin:  :slap:  :shruggy:

The big winner here was the house.
