First, this is not a rotisserie resto.  This is one that is done in a gravel driveway (except for the paint) so do not get your panties in a wad over my trunks inner quarter textured paint.  I like it, and that is all that matters.  Afterall, this is a drag car, not a show car :D

I second that motion.  That's exactly the same scenerio that I had with my Charger, and I couldn't be more happier :)

Great job!

Does that mean you are going to push it onto the grass to paint it?  :smilielol:
Looking good.  :2thumbs:

Big Lebowski

Cool dude, I was thinking about painting my '73 Sat a B-5 blue with white Roadrunner stripes.
"Let me explain something to you, um i am not Mr. Lebowski, you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the dude, so that's what you call me. That or his dudeness, or duder, or you know, el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing."

leave it to Georgians to be smartasses! lol that was funny... no, unfortunately the car is going to a body guy for the paint, darn!

I just got done removing the rearend yesterday.  I powerwashed the entire underside rear and have rubber undercoated it (it was undercoated from the factory).  I painted the rear housing flat black.  The bearings look to be in good shape, so I will clean them out and repack them with grease.

I will put the suregrip unit in probably tomorrow and button everything back up on that.

I am going to take my rear sway bar and other rear axle stuff to get bead blasted tomorrow.  When the new rear sway bar bushings come in this week, I will have that put back on.  Then, the rear end will be finished and I can jack up the front to rebuild the front suspension, just have to buy that kit yet  :'( , boy that will hurt the pocketbook.

Engine gets out of the machine shop this week, and I have to rebuild my transmission still!!! argghhh... so much to do, no time or money!!! well, i think that is the crux of all our restoration issues huh?

thanks for the replies guys, it keeps me motivated.

RD , are you keeping the column shift in the runner ? was it a 400cid car ? you said yours wasnt a GTX so im guessing 400 because of the passenger side inspection cover is a big block car .

hows the project comming ?  :2thumbs:

brought back from the grave...

well, i removed the column shift, replaced the power steering with a manual steering box and rebuilt a console steering column and put it in there.  It was a 400HP car that has lost its heart (engine is in florida somewhere).

The engine has since been put in, had a thread on it somewhere but cant find it, and my pics... hell i dont know where my pics are....

oh here is one engine pic:

BTW, how's your house coming along? Is that car gonna be your garage queen? ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Back from the dead part II.  Any updates for us?  I love 73 RR's.   :popcrn:

looking good....i'm gonna have to get my butt in gear so i can get my charger up there to give you a run for your money  :2thumbs:
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

RD

man... well yeah, there is, i completed the front suspension rebuild and will be getting cage emplaced in two weeks, just a 6 pt.  I have started a new job working for the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs, so I am unable to do much to the car as of now.

I have now reclassified the car to just "drag racer".  I have a 68 plymouth to cruise around in, and in the near future (4-5 yrs) I am planning a 73 Dodge Charger SE pro street, tubbed, backhalved, with the body looking stock as all get out (to include the dorky white vinyl top with louvered windows hehehe) show car, except for the blower sticking through the hood (haze, look out) lol j/k.  lots of plans, but the RR will be done this winter, come hell or high water.  I will have it in the body shop by December and hopefully by march, I will have it striped and ready to shite and get.

I will take pics after the cage is in, seats are mounted, and panels all laid out.  should be in about a month or two. thanks for the bump.

I like the textured paint in the trunk thing too! Thought I was the only one. It looks clean to me.
