What is your favorite Aero Car?

1969 Dodge Daytona
1969 Charger 500
1970 Plymouth Superbird
1969 Ford Talladega
1969 Cyclone Spoiler II

69_500

What is the favorite of the group?

Personally I prefer the Daytona over all of them. I also like a 500 more than a Superbird. Now honestly I'd take a HEMI Superbird over a 440 Charger 500, but I like to compare apples to apples. I'd take a HEMI 500 over a HEMI Superbird though.

So if all were alike, which would you prefer. Top notch to me is a X9, X9, 426 HEMI, 4 speed, Daytona. Not going to be in my possesion ever though, so I'll stick to wanting a 440 4 speed Daytona.

I'd like an F6 white interior and stripe Daytona...make it a 4-speed please.
But I'd take a similiar Superbird over a Charger 500.
My Superbird would be FY1 4-speed six barrel car with the industrial grade bench seat!

Daytonas and Superbirds are absolutely tied for me. Daytona has the cool Charger tailights and rear stripe, but the Superbird had way nicer colours.

Charger 500's are absolutely gross in my opinion, just don't like them, rear window is wrong, grille is extremely wrong. I apologize to any C500 owners, just an opinion (but hey, I like 70 Superbees, go figure)

The Talladega is ugly, but the Cyclone is kinda cool looking.

2 cents right there...

  i voated #1 C500 - but   #2 would be a  DAYTONA -    and  #3  a   SUPERBIRD

if i could choose options it would be --
C500 Y2 black interior & stripe - HEMI  & a 4 speed   :drool5:
DAYTONA R4 black interior & white stripe HEMI  & a 4speed
SUPERBIRD Petty blue & black interior HEMI & a 4 speed
but i can appreciate the  cyclone & talladega  also

All you 500 owners make me jealous.

CaptMarvel

Well, I've been a confimed Charger fanatic ever since DMCL hit the TV rerun synd. and I really love the original Daytonas, but there is something very cool about the Superbird (the fun of it, the freakish looks and the original Plymouth ads had alot of humor) The wing and nose do seem to fit more areodynamicly on the Charger and there were far less made, but, I guess I'd still choose the Bird, (Like I'd ever have to choose)

Something about a green bird w black interior and a 440/4 sp makes me drool... :icon_smile_tongue:

69_500

Ah come on now Ghoste, you know you want a Daytona more than a 500.

I do, and that was even before I got a 500. I just settled for a 500 because I couldn't get a daytona yet.

me too, my favorite is a white superbird with a black roof. Rene

Ghoste

Nope.  I've always liked the 500.  Don't know why but the Daytona is a number two for me. ;D

Brock Samson

For me, the practical conciderations of driving in a crowded metropolitan area would dictate a 500,..
But a Daytona in any trim is the utimate,..
Perhaps one day..  :-\

69_500

I'm actually shocked at how many of you guys prefer the 500 over the other aero cars.

Ghoste

I can't answer for the others, but my reasons lie partly with the fact that the Daytona screams NASCAR and I'm just not a big NASCAR fan.  I like watching the old stuff but this new version is like the motorsports answer to professional wrestling.
The 500 seems NASCAR in a subtle way.  Or take it drag racing, your choice.  But mostly, I like them because of that one special issue of Hot Rod waaaay back when it was the quickest road test car at the time.

THE CHARGER PUNK

give me an black daytona witha red butt stripe with a 392 hemi backed by th400 with a 4.10 dana 60 , s/s 68 dart style interior(back seat delete, radio delete,a-100 seats,no console) 6 pt roll bar ,mopar s/s battery in the trunk, 6/71 weiand super charger with velocity stacks, hemi emblems on doors ,rocker and wheel well trim, rims and tire combos( 14 x 6 cragar ss up front mounted on polyglass gt's, back 15 x 10 ansen slots mounted on mickey thompson pro street tires) and 4 wheel discs, yes i know i narrowed it down but that is what i want and one day with enough money i am going to build it ;D-MATT

GTX?  Silver, you're a wing car heretic ;).

hotrod98

392 with a th400? ??? Why not a 426 with a Keisler 5 speed?

Definetly 426 with a 5 speed and possibly a huffer with a fuel injected birdcatcher!  Use the 392 for the ole rat rod.

hotrod98

I have got to build me one badass hotrod before I leave this world. It might as well be a wing car. It's going to be so radical that I'll need to put a 40 gallon fuel cell in the trunk just to get to the next town. ;D

yea yea and fire and big boobs too! :punkrocka: I watched too much beavis and butthead?!

THE CHARGER PUNK

392 because its cheaper and no one make a A-833 adapter for that engine and hot rodding is sweet, also i forgot to mention it would have a coulmn shift and a 50 gallon cell in the trunk for travelling North America for my personal grad trip in the summer of my grad from gr.12 in 2 yrs-MATT

hotrod98

Back in the 80's when I quit racing the 392's, I gave a truck load of them away. Blocks, heads, pistons, intakes and all kinds of good stuff. It had gotten to the point that rebuild stuff was almost non-existent for them. Now they're reproducing everything a guy would need to build a nice one. Just another one of those mistakes I've made right up there with selling seven 69 chargers to a guy for $150 a piece. :cryin:

My dream isn't a single car but rather a pair of matching aero cars. I want a matching C500 and a Daytona. However I'd prefer the 500 to be an automatic, and the Daytona a 4 speed. both have to have the same interior, exterior, and stripe colors however. So since I have the R4, white and white 500 and its an auto, I'll look for a R4, white, white 4 speed Daytona. I'd also prefer a car that is a 4 speed with a buddy seat, not a console for the Daytona. Only seen 1 that fits that description and I've followed it as it changes hands over the years too. Only problem is the asking price each time it comes up for sale.

WINGMAN

I like my 500 for what it is , and i like my daytona also for what is also , Vary hard to like one more than the other. I am vary vary luckey to have them both, worked hard to get them. I am not so pickey about what they came with when they were built, i am just glad to have them. Both are R4 with black insides 440 automatics. I hope to still be driveing them when i am 90.I wish every one who wanted to have a aero car would have one.  :icon_smile_cool:  JR.
