IF ANYONE HAS THE NEW OVERDRIVE GEAR SET , PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU LIKE IT AND PRO'S AND CONS . ALSO PLEASE STATE REAR END RATIO

Mike DC

I'm strongly considering it but I haven't bought one yet.

Seems like it's all pros at least on paper.
You keep the stock external shifter and have fewer gears than stock (before 1:1 anyway).  Not like the Tremec or Richmond overdrive transmissions at all.

But in my mind neither of those changes is nessecarily a bad thing.
I want my musclecar to feel like a musclecar.  If I wanted a short/tight shifter to choose between half a dozen close-ratio gears (including a 1st gear that barely makes it to 20 mph), then I'd buy a modern sports car.

I JUST HOPE THE SPREAD IS NOT TOO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!

I put a wide ratio kit in one of my cars once. It fell flat on its face going from 2nd to 3rd. I will never do it again. Oh, by the way, I had a 3.73 gear in it and a 3000rpm stall converter. Still a bad choice for me. Just my two cents.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.

I'm referring to a manual set-up not an automatic , you mentioned a stall conv .

HEY BUDDY.

I think as you know this would make the largest difference on the rear gear.  Also, have you considered just running a standard OD unit? With a 391 or 410.

Also, what tire diameter are you thinking?  Again, as you know that would make a difference as well.

I think richmond gear has a calculator on the website.

GOT That sunshine, huh cupcake......

HE BLOW ME OR WHATEVER , THE QUESTION WAS ON THE GEAR SET THAT PASSON SELLS FOR THE FACTORY 4 SPEED .THEY ONLY OFFER ONE SET .  AGAIN YOUR BEING A JACKASS AND STARTING TROUBLE . THIS SITE IS FOR MOPAR LOVING PEOPLE TO ASK , SHOW AND FORWARD INFORMATION ABOUT THE CARS WE ALL LOVE , AND HERE YOU AGAIN ACTING LIKE A TEN YEAR OLD THAT LIVES IN A TRAILER PARK WITH WAY TOO MUCH  SUGAR IN HIS DIET !!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS , BUT COULD YOU FOCUS YOUR EXCESSIVE ENERGY ON FUEL PRICES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blown70

HAHAH,  Did I hit a nerve.

Actually I was being really nice right up untill that last line.  I guess taken into account your attiude, I figued we could meet out behind your trailer park.....

TAKE BREATH  BUD.....

Seriously.  Do you know the size of the tire and rear gear you are going to run.  That will help with the OD gear at least in my opinion.

Passon's new OD gears:   2.66 / 1.59 / 1.00 / .80

So those first three gears are very similar to the gears in a stock Torqueflite 3-speed automatic.
The Passon ones are a little bit closer together.

yOu hadn't mentioned that in your first post but I see now that you are talking about a manual. From the numbers I see, I think that would be a wonderful set up. I would try one in a second.

ALL I WANTED WAS FEEDBACK ON THE PASSON GEAR SWAP , AND IF IT"S WORTH THE MONEY OR STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND BUY THE KIEISLER SET-UP. I KNOW I LEFT OUT TIRE SIZE AND GEAR RATIO BECAUSE I DON'T GET MY 472 HEMI BACK FROM THE MACHINE SHOP FOR 3 WEEKS . THE PASSON SOUNDS GREAT BECAUSE I HAVE A HEMI BOX AND EVERY THING THAT GOES WITH IT .

Those gear ratio's sound good. I did not realize they sold just the gearsets. I wonder if they will ever make them for the more common 23 spline box?

HERES GREAT NEWS , I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH JAMIE @ PASSONPERFORMANCE.COM AND LET ME SAY IF EVERY VENDOR IN THIS HOBBY WAS AS HELPFULL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE AS HE , LIFE WOULD BE GREAT . HIS GEAR SET AS MENTIONED EARLIER IS VERY CLOSE TO A T-F AUTO AND THEY SELL FOR 1695.00 , WITH A REBUILD KIT WHICH INCLUDES ALL BEARINGS AND FRONT RETAINER COSTS AROUND 1900.00 , NOT A BAD DEAL WHEN COMPARED TO A TREMIC . HE ALSO OFFERS A KIT TO GREATLY REDUCE SHIFT EFFORT FOR SUPER EASY , SMOOTH SHIFTS . THIS COMPANY USES GEAR SETS MADE IN A COUNTRY THAT USED TO BUILD EVERTHING GREAT     THE U.S.A   NOT CHINA OR JAPAN , WHICH MEANS THEY HAVE GREATER CONTROL ON THE QUALITY FROM START TO FINISH !  ONE MORE THING , THE KIT WILL SWAP RIGHT INTO A 23 SPINE !!!!!!  LARRY

There we go Mr. Thick Skin,  Feeling better today...

Rolling_Thunder

$1900 for the set with a rebuild kit...     :o        those ratios arent bad -  the ones in my tremec are really far apart it seems...     but i also have a .68 OD gear with a 3.27 first...      so as you can see the Passon kit is about a middle of the road compromise when it comes to how close/wide the ratios are

YES , WELL SAID ! WHAT IS NICE IS IT'S STILL A MOPAR TRANS , NOT A MUSTANG OR CORVETTE. WHEN IT'S ALL SAID AND DONE THE KIESLER KIT IS 5K AND THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS RUN BY A BUNCH OF JERRY'S KIDS !

Blakcharger440

Ummm...the last time I checked the Keisler kit is not 5K. Maybe if you were swapping from a auto to a manual and needed all the stick shift parts also, but not starting with a manual car.

daytonalo

WHEN YOU GET DONE WITH THE HYD CLUTCH AND THE PISTOL GRIP AND THE BELL IT'S 5 K  !!!!!!
