Alternator bracket

I'm trying to detail a 1968 383 engine from my Charger with A/C. What color is this alternator bracket supposed to be? It bolts to the right cylinder head. I've seen them both black and engine color, (turquoise). Was it mounted on engine when engine was painted? Thanks.

No brackets were engine color.
The correct color is black, the sheen is supposed to be approximately 20% gloss. Some prefer the satin sheen which is close to 20% in the Krylon brand. Rustoleum is a better product but it dries slow.
