Anyone use front valance turn signals as fog lights?

The turn signals look perfect for fog lights, but how to make that work?  I saw someone solder halogen sealed beam elements into an 1157 base, and I guess you can come up with a way to dim one of the elements so you can either have the dim lamp, and flash the bright, or run the bright as a fog light, and flash to dim so you maintain working turn signals, but I imagine the heat would be way to much for the plastic lens, and wouldn't be amber.  Anyone try something like this?

More than the socket and bulb deal is also the circuits. You must cut the parking light circuit wire to source it on a separated circuit for the fog lights function on a diff switch. But then you will lose the parking light function… however, would be that still legal? IMHO I don’t think so, so I guess you would need to run a divorced parking light system…

After think you will still need to run/install parking lights somewhere else, then to make that job is better to make the job to the fog lights itself.

Aside that, fog lights use to be brighter than turnings where turnings are brighter than parking lights. Mix fog and turning lights into the same assembly will make to wash the turning lights being missed which I don’t think will be legal either.

I'm thinking three level LED.  Controllers are really cheap.  Flash dim and medium for normal driving, and bright medium for fog light use.  They'd never be in people's eyes.

Ask the '69 Camaro guys about it.  They might have an aftermarket setup for it already.  The stock Camaro lights are similar to Charger ones in appearance & function.

In some states it's against the law and the cops will nail you for any extra lights. (Like here in FL.)  :scratchchin:

I think you might be interested in Illumin8s. It appears as though the have white led "driving" light that changes to amber when flashing. I am still awaiting a reply from them about how they actually work

Once again, fog lights will make non visible the turning light function when required due the intensity difference. Of course if times comes to use both at the same time

I've got these on mine and love em. They work just as switchback LEDs do and required no modifications to the wiring. Plug and play.

What happens when those lights are on and then you activate a turn signal?

Cops can't pull you over here for fix-it tickets.  No smog checks or safety inspections.  It's a hotrodder's dream.

The side that is activated switches to the amber bulbs and works just like stock.

They are low to the ground, though.
