I have all the parts to rebuild this car,including a complete roofskin and structure from a 73 Charger with a factory sunroof. Does anyone think that a U code N96 car is worth the effort it would take to save it.

Hey so Leon and/or other body People, whats up with fire damaged sheet metal? Looks to me you could media blast the fenders and stuff, skim coat and slight warp and call it good...whats the REAL story??

Why do you think that? The fuse link should prevent that.

They short right at the gauge,and the wires melt down and ignite the insulation under the dash,it happened to my 70 Charger,and my Little red express truck,both had fusible links,neither prevented the short. If I hadn't caught them both in time I would have lost both of them. This is why people are converting them to volt meters instead of Amp gauges. There have been hundreds of fires in Mopars because of the Amp guages shorting out,most of them look like this car after. I bought a Challenger that had the body repaired because of this issue. The whole roof had to be replaced,and it didn't burn as bad as this Charger.

If you look at the picture of the dash in this burnt charger the dash frame is collapsed right above where the alternator gauge would have been in the instrument cluster. There was extrene heat in that spot for a long time.

Never say prevent the short, but prevent from reach the fire saving from get hotter the shorted area once fuse blows.

Yes I noticed the collapsed area on dash previously, but is also the weaker area on dash, and with the main harness section being on that area it also gets more “fuel” to feed the fire so get hotter around.

(NOTE: Not saying is not posible)

I never fixed or restored a car that burnt. All the Heat probably did warp Panels. I did fix 2 cars that had the hoods melt from Engine fires. LEON.

Grab the tail lights, bumper and emblems and then at some point you've gotta say 10 cents a pound....

The sunroof from a 1973 Charger is not the same as one for a 1971. But you probably already know this.
